Week End Officially Over

Well the weekend is officially over and I actually made it.

I did go down to my students football game, but please remind me how not to be embarassed by a person jumping up and down in the middle of a football field screaming at the top of their voice, "I told you all Mrs. P was coming to watch me play! Hi Mrs. P!" That plus having every person in the stands looking at me was nerve wracking to say the least. Oh well at least I was appreciated for a couple of hours.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing my regular chores, getting the garden produce put up and baking some cookies for the upcoming weeks lunches. I also promised one of the boys that since he was behaving so well I would bring him something special. Must remember to do that tomorrow, all he asked for was Chocolate Chip Cookies, homemade of course.

Here is the fruits of my baking labours. Chocolate chip of course. Just hope they last the week, I am afraid I have been nibbling a little bit too much.

The fruits of the harvest came next.

More cucumbers and a cantalope or two.

A tisket, a tasket, a basket of green peppers and eggplants. I did take some of the peppers to school today and we used them at lunch during our staff meeting.

Lastly, but not least I managed to process a few more bags of tomatoes. Add to that a few bags of sliced green peppers and my work in the garden was done....for at least a few days.
All in all a productive weekend both work wise and spiritually.

Off to visit you all now.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Jackie,

You touched a boy's heart by going to that game and nothing to be embarrassed about. I bet he hasn't felt that way in a long time. You've made a difference in how he looks at the world. God bless you for your random act of kindness.

Love all your veggies. A lot of work but well worth it.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  2. I think that is so very sweet and special that you were greeted like that! It's not everyday when youth acknowledge people other than their "peers".

The cookies and jars looks sooooo yummy! My fav is chocolate chip and I love the vintage jars.

  3. I have to agree with Carrie, it is very sweet! I think that it is so wonderful how you made a young boy feel so special. You are a special lady. Okay how do you stay so thin with all of the baking you do? I need to know your secret.
    Hugs,

  4. The good girl in me wants to say, "Look at those fresh veggies! Yumm!!!" But the bad girl overpowers me and wants to scarf down those delicious looking cookies! They look so cute in those jars but I bet they taste even better!!

  5. I've always admired you tremendously, but now the awe is settling in.

Your keeping your promise to show up for his game might be the first big completed promise that child has received in years, if not in his entire life. He will see the world as being just a little safer and more reliable as a result of your actions.

  6. Thanks everybody, I am a real softie when it comes to children. I used to host a tobogganing/sleding day when I was the youth minister at the church. After a day of sliding down the hills (actually around 3 hours) everybody came back to my place for homemade cookies, games, and movie watching.

Harvey would come home to a houseful of young people lounging all over our living room. One such day he asked why they were all still here at about 5 pm. I told him that the ones that were left felt safest staying with me. He was just so upset that he asked all of them (and there were about 12 left here) to stay for supper and phoned for pizza. Not one parent phoned to see where their child was.

  7. God bless you for going to that young man's game. He now knows that at least one adult cares about him .. and that could make a difference some day.

  8. Awwww Jackie, you really made that boy's day when you attended his football game. I'm sure it was worth getting embarassed! lol

I can appreciate all the work you've been doing with your garden harvest...this morning I started canning some tomatoes. I do them as they ripen so it's a job to to every few days.

Pass me one of them chocolate chip cookies please....hehe! xoxo
