Snow, Snow and More Snow

The past week has seen my little corner of the prairies hit hard by Mother Nature. It seems like every time we get nice weather and it looks like spring is on the way we get a storm move in.

Today we ended up getting about 6 cm of snow and from the looks of the forecast we will be getting another 10 to 15 cm of snow on Sunday. It wouldn't be bad, but with the snow comes horrific winds. These winds cause white out conditions on the highways surrounding us and of course some lovely drifts behind our vehicles and on streets.

I had to go to work across town this morning and had trouble keeping the windshield clear of snow build up. Coming home was an adventure as well. The roads were icy and at one point I almost wondered if I would be able to get moving at a stop light when it turned green again. I did manage to do so, but with the rear of the vehicle sliding forward it was kind of scary.

Since the weather has been so topsy turvy I have spent much of the time in the house putzing around.

Keeping to the use it up mantra I am developing and expanding this year I have been knitting mittens for next winter. I am on pair number 5 and hope to get that done tonight.

They still have to be sewn up but I just know my hands will love these next winter. Really I do not know where all my mittens disappear over the course of one winter!!!

These were all made with remnants of yarn from other projects and of course the yarn was bought on sale in the first place.

I have other partial skeins of yarn and orphan skeins that I will need to figure out what to do with. Any ideas out in blogland would be greatly appreciated.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Jackie, you should open an Etsy shop, if you haven't already. I bet your mittens, etc. would sell!

  2. That is exactly what our youngest son Kris says. Perhaps one of these days.

  3. I have given up on knitting for the time being...I don't think I will ever be "proficient". But I have picked up my crochet hook again...first time in YEARS and I am enjoying it immensely. Right now I am still working on just washcloths and dishcloths, but hope to advance to something a little bit more intense soon. Maybe a soap cover, lol?

  4. See and I love crochet work...just can't do it. Working with one needle throws me right off.

    God bless.
