Yep, today I took a massive tumble when leaving the bank. Because of my osteoporosis we took a quick trip to the hospital. My wait time really wasn't that long, just a bit less than two hours. I am just glad it was early enough that no one saw it happen.
Nothing broken according to the x-rays, just some deep tissue damage. Man this actually hurts worse than my two wrist breaks, and I can do about as much work as when that happened. To make matters worse it is my right arm and I happen to be right handed. Not able to use the left hand and arm as well as the right.
This means things I wanted to get done today haven't been done, and that working on the binding of the firepit quilt was shockingly hard. I wanted to get the garden weeded, but that may just have to wait, or I will just do a so-so job of it tomorrow.
I hope it starts to feel better soon as I have lots that need to be done. However cleaning out the fridge of items that need using up can still be accomplished, and some easily done extra cleaning in the sewing/craft room as well.
I will try a bit of knitting tonight and hopefully get the second mitt of the pair done. Perhaps if it isn't too bad I can get a bit of the next pair started as well.
It does mean I will need to take a shower instead of my usual bath tonight as I need both arms to lift myself out of the tub. This is going to be interesting to say the least as I usually get water all over when I take a shower.
It also meant a slight change in supper plans, nothing drastic but I am hopeful it will turn out okay. The potatoes will be mashed and fried with some onion (need to use that up) and then I will add the leftover pork roast.
Anyway, off to get supper made and then cleared up.
Everybody have a wonderful evening. I will try and visit, but don't know how much I will comment. Typing with one hand isn't fun.
God bless.
Oh dear, Jackie! I'm sorry to hear of your tumble. Hope it doesn't slow you too much but on the other hand, maybe you need to take a bit of a break? Things happen for a reason..............right?
ReplyDeleteOh Jackie, I am so sorry about your fall. What is most important is that you are okay and that nothing is broken. Thank God 😊 🙏 you were seen quickly as well. Sometimes wait times in emergency can be as long as 6 to 12 hours. Perhaps you can put a towel down when you take your shower 🚿 so it can soak up some of any spilled water that may occur.
ReplyDeleteWhat is most important is you and your health and safety. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it...a friend nearby, a neighbour or a relative. Take good care of yourself.
I am so sorry to read of your tumble Jackie - these things can happen so easily as we get that little bit older & we need to be so careful. I slipped down the steps wearing my slippers - I should have known they were a teeny bit frosty but I didn't think until I was in a heap at the bottom. I hope you heal well very soon Jackie. xx
ReplyDeleteOh no, just when you need to be fully fit! Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better today, life really can change in an instance.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you've had a nasty fall. It's scary when that happens, as it makes you feel vulnerable. I hope you recover very quickly in time for your holiday. If everything doesn't get done, there's always time when you get back and are rested. Sending love and virtual hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh no Jackie! I’m glad nothing was broken, but deep tissue damage is painful. I hope this heals qui For you and does not make your trip unenjoyable for you. Try to take it easy as much as you can.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I can't stand for long so I have a shower chair. I also can't get out of a tub hence the shower. I don't mind though. I hope you feel better soon. That must have hurt! I fear falling every single day and try to be so careful. I get dizzy a lot though so mostly, I take everything easy, lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Lazy Perogie recipe...sounds delicious. So were you rushing when you took this awful tumble? That's my problem, I'm always in a hurry and that's not good. I almost fell down the three library steps the other day...in a hurry and so lucky the flag pole was there and I hung onto it and it broke my fall. Nothing hurt but my dignity, :). So happy nothing got broken, Jackie. Rest up now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! That sounds really painful. Hope you get a chance to relax & recover. Take care of yourself! - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteGoodness girl, right before your vacation! I do hope you heal up quickly. At least you won't have to make meals, clean up afterward, and someone will make the bed for you too while you're away. Take care!
ReplyDeleteOh Jackie, I am so sorry you had that happen. Dang, just when you want to be really busy. Take care and rest - you want to feel good for your trip.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. It is hard to be down when you are always so busy. But do take it easy and let your body heal.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm so sorry to read about your fall. You were right to get yourself checked at at the hospital, just in case of serious damage. No doubt you will be stiff and sore in the coming days. Such a shame, if gives you such a shock when you take a tumble.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you took a tumble Jackie - that's not fun at the best of times and even less so when your trip is happening soon. Take care of you!
ReplyDeleteOh Jackie I’m sorry to hear this but it happens. It could have been so much worse. I’m afraid of falling after a few that resulted in surgeries.
ReplyDeleteYet here you are, still attempting to get things done. That stiffness hurts. I hope you REST some and heal completely and fast. ❤️
