This morning dawned foggy and very cold. In fact at -19.5C we could say that winter has arrived for sure, even though there is supposed to be a warm up over the next week. I will be driving on icy roads to take the car in to get the winter tires put on, something I really did not want to be doing.
The fog was not an ordinary fog either, it was one the deposited hoar frost on all surfaces.
So beautiful, and yet so cold. The wind managed to take all of this decoration down just a bit after noon. At times one might have thought it was snowing once again.
I contacted Kris last night and we will be going to Regina on the weekend. I plan on phoning the store that might be able to fix my machine, and hopefully drop it off there on Friday. While I probably won't be able to pick it up before we leave, I am sure Kris will be happy to do so for me, or we have another excuse to go up for a visit or even just a day's shopping (a visit would be better though 😊
Harvey wants to stay with Kris until after the Grey Cup game on Sunday. That will mean my to do lists for the week after that are going to be switched around a great deal. This could mean that I won't have as much time to work on my projects for the first part of the week. I do plan on taking the knitting with me and perhaps get most of that completed while there.
The church was freezing today, and the children did not go downstairs for their special church as it was so cold. I guess there is something happening to the boilers and they just were not working correctly. Father kept his sermon a bit shorter than usual, but by the time we left my hands were like ice cubes. Hopefully, by keeping our coats on we will not have exasperated our colds. At the end of Mass we had a short ceremony for Remembrance Day. Ended Mass singing O Canada.
Harvey made us brunch today, and I cleaned up after. Any time I do not have to cook I am happy enough to clean up and really it was just a few items.
Off to visit with all of you for a bit.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Visiting your adult children is never a bad thing. I say stay as long as you can!
ReplyDeleteIt’s too bad the church was so cold. It’s hard to concentrate when you’re freezing.
Oh my, winter has certainly arrive there. Please be careful when you go to get the winter tires. The church sounds very cold, that was good of Father to shorten his sermon. I’m happy you’ll be getting your machine fixed too. I had mine out today and made a large casserole hot pad for a Christmas present. Now I can mark that off my to do list.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr... keep warm in these cold temperatures!
ReplyDelete-19? Brrrrr, that feels extremely cold to my British eyes . . . I whinge if it gets close to zero! Hoar frost is so beautiful though. xx
ReplyDeleteI am truly lucky my hubby loves to cook and makes most meals and bakes, my role is always to wash up afterwards, fortunately he is not a messy cook.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture with the frost on the tree. Drive safely and have a nice visit.
ReplyDeleteBrrr...it was colder there than at home in town. I understand the temps will start rising today (in fact, D said it was only -3C there this morning), so that should make the snow and ice disappear quickly.
ReplyDeleteI do hope the church gets the boiler and running soon though.
We're talking about a get together for Grey Cup here in the clubhouse. It's always more fun to watch with others. I'm sure Harvey and Kris will enjoy their time. Go Riders!
Wow, that's cold Jackie. I don't know how you manage at temperatures like that. Stay safe and keep warm.
ReplyDeleteThe hoar frosts are always so beautiful but the c-c-c-cold, not so much!
ReplyDeleteBe careful driving, things change so quickly in the weather patterns at this time of year.(except here in AZ). Sorry, had to throw that in. 🤭
Oh my goodness, minus 19.5 and a hoar frost! I've never experienced anything like that. Do you keep your car in a garage? Guess you do otherwise you would have to clear it of snow in the winter.
ReplyDeleteThat is cold. Our church can either be too cold or too hot.
