No cats here but to avoid oils and fats going down the drains I do use paper towels dropped in the cooling pan to suck it all up and then drop them in the bin. I agree with you about...Sounds like a useful read. I agree with you about paper towels. I don't use them that often but I like to have them there for occasional emergencies or to blow my nose on! Like you I load my washing machine, but I've been told and read different things about whether you should do this or not. I do it anyway and then hang the washing inside as we have no drier.
