Sunday Ramblings

It is the end of a weekend here. A nice quiet, get a few things done weekend. Always the best thing in my books.

I have done embroidery, read pattern notes over, cleaned out most of the plastic containers in the hall cupboard making room for my silicone freezer molds. There are still more in use, but those will be gotten rid of as the contents are used up. It will be room saving to be able to use the molds, pop out the frozen item, perhaps wrap and store in a bag. That should take up less room in the freezer than lots of containers one would think.

I think I have narrowed down cruises to two that interest me. Both are river cruises so only have to unpack once rather than live out of a suitcase. I believe we will make a trip to the travel agents early next week and finish making our plans.

As my friend will be gone starting tomorrow for two weeks I will be home and doing small things up until my dentist visit on Friday. It should be just a cleaning, or at least that is what I hope. I plan on getting my prescriptions that day and getting our allowances as well.

My days at home will be spent doing all those little tasks I have been putting off, planning ways to use up food, and make new things from scratch. As I have said over the past few years I have gotten pretty darn lazy purchasing things like cake mixes, pie crust, spice/herb mixes and now it is the time to go back to the older way I had of cooking. I will probably slip back every once in awhile, especially if I see a really good sale.

I am up to having decluttered 94 items so far this year. Things are looking pretty good to be able to reach the 500 item mark at this point. Pretty pumped at being able to perhaps reach that when I didn't even get close last year.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  2. Nice work on the decluttering! I'm at 38 items for the year, I think, although I do have a few things newly listed on eBay, and if those sell, that will help me get to ~40. I need to list some shirts on Buy Nothing as well. Donating puts them at risk of being tossed into the garbage due to volume, but if I give them away on Buy Nothing, it's going to a neighbor who proactively wants them, which always feels good. - Hawaii Planner

  4. Well done with the decluttering. I need to start counting again. I lost count last year. Don't think it came anywhere near 500 though.

  5. Great job on getting rid of stuff you don't need and want anymore. Here's to you getting back to scratch baking and cooking. It's the best. But that said, nothing wrong wit a box if you want too. But yeah, homemade rocks. Do you make noodles at home? I do micro batches and it's soooo tasty and fun.

  6. Great job on the decluttering. At this rate you'll be over 1000 by the end of the year!
I love quiet days too, though there don't seem to be many of those here lately. :)

  7. Excited to hear about your cruise. I like the idea of unpacking once, which is not what we do when we take our land tours; but...given my vertigo issues, not sure a cruise would be a good idea for me. Great goal of decluttering. I've done some, but......but not so as one would notice.

  8. Decluttering really is an ongoing project is t it. I always have a carry bag in the garage ready to pop in any unwanted items I come across, and take the bag to the charity shop when it is full.

  10. Decluttering 500 items? Wow, what a goal! Of course in our rv I would equate that to maybe 50?

  11. There's a wicker basket in the corner of our bedroom that holds donations heading for the thrift store. When it gets full everything gets put in a bag or box and we make a trip to get rid of it. I used to have a garbage bag serving the same purpose but the wicker basket is a lot prettier.
