Well the heat has arrived and after working out in the garden my meal plan has definitely changed for today.
Monday
This was supposed to be pizza night, however it is much too hot to turn on the oven. So I will pull out the leftover salad, boil a couple of eggs (4), thinly slice the ham I took out and make a main dish salad.
Tuesday
Smoked sausage, potatoes, and carrots done on the BBQ (supposed to be even warmer tomorrow).
Wednesday
Baked Spaghetti (even though it will be warm I am hoping the air conditioning has caught up by then) even though I will be using the toaster oven and not the big oven. I may try and slip some garlic bread in as well.
Thursday
Soup and sandwiches. I might just make grilled cheese on the top of the stove.
Friday
Tuna pasta salad. Heat will still be sticking around so another main dish salad is going to happen rather than a Tuna casserole.
Saturday
Stuffed chicken, cauliflower cheese, and probably a salad.
Sunday
It was supposed to be warmed up leftover ham, but I think I will get Harvey on the BBQ once again and do some Bacon Wrapped filets, as well as tin foil potatoes and carrots.
So there you have it. Changing meals on the fly, and combating the heat.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

We’re grilling bbq pork chops tonight and some grilled zucchini. That’s it!
ReplyDeleteSometimes when its super hot a salad & some cold ham is just perfect Jackie. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie, thank God the heat 🥵 🔥 hasn't arrived yet here in Montreal.
ReplyDeleteIt will, though. I am just enjoying the comfortable weather and taking my walks in nature while I can before the heat hits.
Your menu sounds great. 😋
It must be unusual for where you are and over here to both be extra hot at the same time so early in the year. Record breaking for May they keep telling us!
ReplyDelete94F yesterday. We're eating what is on hand, on the fly, when the mood strikes.
ReplyDeleteI pulled a bag of shredded beef from the freezer. We have a bag of spring greens and a bag of fresh spinach, cucumber and tomatoes that need to be eaten. Tortillas, cheese, my canned salsa. It's going to be a week of salads, burritos (stuffed with salad)
Eggs, cooked sausage patties, blackberry compote from frozen garden berries and oatmeal buckwheat pancakes (made a double batch) from Saturday's breakfast.
Yogurt, almonds, cashews, using milk for banana pudding snacks......
It is "use it up" and fend for yourself week here 🤣🤣
Lighter eating is always a good thing when the weather gets hot. How do you make grilled cheese if not on the stove top? That is the only way I have ever made them.
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds delicious, Jackie. And you've given me some good ideas for my own menus this week. :)
ReplyDeleteI've just been on Google to read about your heat wave, seems to be strange weather all over these days.
ReplyDeleteWe're eating NOW good this week too; burgers, smokies, and chicken. Pasta, potato and Caesar salad. Definitely summer foods!
