The first day of November started off below freezing, cloudy and windy. We have now managed to reach 10C, the sun is out and the wind has definitely gone down. Still I am glad I had nowhere to go today really and could stay home and work on projects.
Well, I was unable to get my good sewing machine working properly (by good I mean the expensive one) and so I pulled out the Walmart Brother machine that Kurt got me for Christmas one year. Yes!!! That one worked and so I managed to get Harvey's pajama bottoms sewn. One project already completed for the month. This needs washing and a bit of ironing before I take a picture, so expect that in next weeks round-up of projects.
So what did I get done this week?
I finished the 6th rose block and decided that to make a decent quilt I need nine of these blocks. Number seven was started yesterday.
The two double oven mitts were finished just before my machine decided to act up. These need a bit of ironing as well.
My orange cleaner was finished so I put it in a mason jar and will soon mix some of this with some water to see how well it cleans.
This is one of the small jars of mint extract that I got after decanting off the mint leaves. I managed to get four of these jars and a jam jar full. I need some of these smaller containers to finish this off. They are in the fridge and will stay there until all used up.
I did some work organizing and straightening out the baking pantry and pasta pantry shelves. I haven't taken a picture yet as the baking one needs some more work done. I hope to finish that off during the next week.
Not a great deal done in the grand scheme of things, but enough that my project list for October was completed.
Off to visit with you all, get supper started and then settle in with some knitting.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Completed your list for Oct? That is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWe had a really decent day here. Got to be outdoors today.
You’ve been busy! I love the double potholders, they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBelow freezing? Winter sure comes in fast for you up north. It's 73 right now. All next week we'll have rain and cooler temperature so it's nice before it changes. Good for you to be able to clear out your October to-do lists!
ReplyDeleteWe hit a remarkable 73F up here Saturday! (not quite a record). You can bet this girl took several walks for a total of 7 miles over the course of a beautiful day! We've already had several freezing mornings so I don't take a day like that for granted here.
ReplyDeleteI'm eating from the pantry/freezer. A recipe made famous by a RN I worked with for many years called "Gotta Go". 🤣 Look around for what's aging out. I made a deep 7x9" crustless quiche. From the freezer: diced onion, chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, pack of spinach, grated cheese, ham slices and some fresh farm eggs! (When fresh produce is aging, it gets chopped/wilted/frozen so I don't waste it). I'm tired of eating this quiche so the last piece will have to wait till Monday but it WILL be eaten!
Great job finishing October tasks.
ReplyDelete🤗
Sounds like you achieved quite a lot. I like your oven gloves. I find the orange cleaner really good to use. It's good to cut through grease.
ReplyDeleteWell done Jackie! I love those double oven mitts, not only are they useful, but they are pretty too.
ReplyDeleteI've got the scarf I started before I left home fully knitted, and currently being blocked. I want to add a fringe and will do that in a week or so since I've started another scarf for one of the ladies here. She enjoys her walks and says on early mornings in January the breeze can be quite chilly. It will use up some of the stash I've inherited. :)
Btw, I never doubt you'll finish your project list. Have a good week.
Congratulations on doing so well on your list for the month. I'm hoping to make great inroads into the final big items for 'that day' in December this week....fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you had a backup sewing machine. Very, very cool.
