Today I managed to complete a few small tasks that have been lurking in the back of my mind for a number of days.
When I went shopping this week I picked up a new liner for the bathroom shower curtain. Today, while catching up on household tasks that were missed yesterday I hung it up. The old one was badly stained and so was tossed, though now that I think about it, I might just have figured out another use for it.
I, also bought some insulated drapes for our bedroom that actually go with the colour scheme. Those have been hung as well and the old ones that suit the hallway better will be hung tomorrow taking the place of the lace curtains that make me think of my Grandmother's house many years ago. Those will be saved and I will figure out another use for them.
Attacked the open bags of baking supplies as well and got what I could into airtight containers. I could use a few more of those to really tidy the baking cupboards.
Slowly but surely getting a bit more organized and clearing things out that need to be cleared.
This has also been another day that I have stayed home and just enjoyed the simplicity of working on household tasks, nesting, and of course working on Christmas gifts.
While I am still a bit anxious over what the world is heading for I am hopeful that all things will work out. I really think us frugal, thrifty people will be just fine, but I am not too sure about those who haven't learned to live withing their means. This includes some of our extended family, there are a few sister-in-laws that are very high maintenance and like to spend money.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

I love a tidy pantry and fridge. Though I am a messy person, there's something I just love about the insides being clean and
ReplyDeleteI cut myself off ... I redid the pantry and it's very nice now.
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie, you got a lot done. That's great 👍
ReplyDeleteI went early this morning 🌄 for a blood test, then took a walk and took a few photos, then came back home and made breakfast. I got two loads of laundry done.
As far as organizing goes, I love ❤️ Dollarama!!! And not just for organizing, they have so many wonderful things at great prices.
I think staying home and working on our homes is a good thing, keeps us from spending money unnecessarily, and gets our homes nice and tidy and orderly. Weather permitting, I’ll be outside tomorrow to clear more debris from another shed.
ReplyDeleteI put insulated drapes in my bedroom last year and could really tell a difference in the temperatures.
I need a new shower curtain for the downstairs shower, but I’m going to give it a good scrubbing first. And I see shower rings to hold curtains regularly on the second hand market, so I’ll look for some of those too as these could stand to be replaced.
I think we will be just fine too, it’s just a little scary if I let myself overthink it. But, working on stuff around here helps take my mind off of it, which is good.
My sister is like you SIL's, no desire to save, spends every penny, money never last long in her purse.
ReplyDeleteSadly there are so many people to whom the word 'frugal' means nothing.
ReplyDeleteWell done. In this unsettled world, we just do what we can to make our own corner more calm and 'honest'. xx
ReplyDeleteThe shower curtain would make a perfect drop cloth for small painting jobs, but otherwise it would just take up space.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the lace curtains though. :)
Having containers in the pantry has been a godsend for me. It's easier to identify what we're getting low on in the clear containers, instead of having to check packages and boxes. I bought a set off Amazon - don't remember the name and we got a massive amount of containers. I think we even have a few spares.
Jackie, I am reminded when I read your daily frugality words how much I enjoy your blog. It’s the little things that we do daily and things that are habitual that really add up. Have a wonderful frugal day today.
ReplyDeleteWell done getting your curtains changed over in readiness for the colder weather. You should get some benefit from that in terms of the house being warmer. I think that some people may get a nasty shock in the not too distant future if some of the doom mongerers out there are to be believed. However, some people have been pedalling the idea of an economic crash for years and it's yet to happen. I hope it doesn't, but if it does, I hope we have the necessary skills and resiliance to ride it out.
ReplyDeleteYour comment about excessive spending reminds me of my own brother and sister in law many years ago when they had young children. There wasnt much cash to buy all what they wanted for a great Christmas, so they bought it all anyway and put the purchases on their credit cards, unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love you, I too have sister in laws that spend more every year on makeup than I do on groceries.
