I have decided that I can only control myself and my reactions to what chaos happens in the world. I am going to find joy in simple things and making my house a bastion of peace and simplicity.
One night as I closed the curtains this week I saw this.....
The neigbourhood deer are back and wondering down our road. It was so quiet and this little lady was probably looking for food. No cars passed by so she was on the road moving back and forth for quite awhile.
While the weather is atrocious I am finding joy today in getting things completed, the smell of baking bread, and the scent of the brown lentil soup simmering on the stove. Simple things that can bring joy if one allows them to.
I have been spending time getting things together for next months projects. Putting my inability to concentrate for long on one specific project to good use. Perhaps if I have a number to work on I will manage to get a couple completed. Having things near, and contained in tote bags, or baskets make me happy. Things are a great deal easier to locate this way.
As I make more from scratch things are actually becoming easier. My cupboards are becoming filled with more staples rather than ready made food. Once the salad dressings are used up I will begin to make my own.
I also am looking forward to going up to Kris's next weekend and removing more of what I have decluttered from my home. Kris is looking forward to our visit, and what we will be bringing up to him. Simplifying my home and giving our son some things he really can use.
The chaos of the world is receding from my every day life. Not that I will stick my head in the sand, more I will leave it in more knowledgeable hands than mine. Pretty sure God knows what to do and the world leaders will do the best that they possibly can.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Ohhhh... lentils .... that does sound goooood.
ReplyDeleteLots of deer here in our forest. Can see all the places they walked through the snow and the other critters too.
Yes, we call that here at our home, an ingredient household. That's what we are here. There are some funny videos about that about living in an ingredient household. Funny stuff.
I love that you're gonna give him some useful things. That's a great way to care for items we no longer need/want.
Here's to all your new adventures in cooking and baking and the wonderful joys that go with.
Yes mam, we have to find our own joy each day. God will take care of us, that I feel assured in. Stay warm.
ReplyDeletePretty deer - that is cool.
Exactly my plan too! Although I admit that I have gotten sand in my eyes a few times. Stress is not good especially over things we cannot control.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Jackie - we have to find Joy in the small simple things while the world is in such chaos. My husband would be delighted if Deer roamed our roads - we only see them here behind big fences. I like having projects in baskets too - it makes it simpler to access them when we have time. xx
ReplyDeleteYou have a very good attitude about the current situation, Jackie. I think you’re right, concentrating on our homes and what we can do there to bring us peace and joy is good. I’m going to do that as well. Sounds like you’re really looking forward to your visit with Kris. I hope you all have a wonderful visit.
ReplyDeleteDear Jackie, how lovely to see the deer!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing well on the savings. Nice to see the deer.
ReplyDeleteWhen I feel blah in the winter, it is due to my vitamin D level being low.
ReplyDeleteThe deer don't visit my neighborhood. Beautiful views out your window with all that snow.
ReplyDeleteAll I can do is trust in God’s daily provision rather than being overwhelmed by life's uncertainties and pray.
The world is a very frightening place at the moment but the small things of our individual worlds stay the same. It is a great comfort.
ReplyDeleteSo many of us are feeling the same way, I wish I could find something I want to make to keep my mind and hands busy.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a pretty intense start to the year news wise, it's not surprising that the chaos is getting to us. I think your decision to concentrate on what you can control is a good one. Lovely to see the deer in your street.
ReplyDeleteFun photo of the deer. They do tend to come into the towns and cities when food sources outside are scarce.
ReplyDeleteFinding joy in the small things is definitely a good head space.
I find animals of any kind are calming for my stress. I sit and watch a squirrel climb and jump tree to tree and just decompress some mornings.
