Catch up Friday

It has been a day of slowly getting things done that I have put off for a bit of time. Getting those tasks out of the way that I just don't like to do.

I usually leave the dusting of the entire living room until the end of the month. I really don't know why I dislike doing this so much (I do dust the TV, the tops of the tables, the bases of the lamps, and the fake fireplace three times a week). Yet to do under the tables, the bookcase, and the few shelves seem to be beyond me until the last minute. I think it could be because I have to remove everything, wipe the shelves down and then dust everything I have removed. So much work, but I managed to get that done and out of the way.

Made those cookies that were on the list to get done earlier in the week. Now I will pull out the shredded zucchini, and some of the other fruits and make a couple of loaves (perhaps even 4) tomorrow. Kris can take some home with him. While he does cook, baking is not something he does with any regularity. So sending him home with some in the care package along with some buns and ready meals will be our Easter gift to him.

Kurt will soon be taking his students to France. I believe they leave on either the 1st or 2nd of April. Visiting the war memorials for Canadian soldiers.

Off to get supper into the toaster oven. I used up some leftover carrots, a package of dried cheese, and what was left of the shredded cheese making the tuna casserole. We will have the leftover salad that I made yesterday to round out the meal.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. I dislike giving my lounge room a thorough dust too Jackie - I have too much stuff but I like to keep it nice so I make myself do it. Its a big chore. Your zucchini loaves sound nice - they will be nice & moist with that in them.

  2. How neat that Kurt will be taking his students to France, that will be aa once in a lifetime opportunity for some of them. You were busy today and got a lot done. You feel about dusting like I feel about cleaning the floors. I do it because it needs doing but it is my least favorite household chore.

  3. You aren't the only one that isn't a fan of dusting. I did that today - ugh - I hate doing the deep dust.

  5. Dusting is not my favourite job and I tend to only do it when it starts to annoy me or we have visitors coming and then I blitz it until it builds up again.

  6. I hate dusting too - it has to be THE most thankless job. One thing though - with your work towards simplifying you will no doubt have less objects to have to dust (and that should encourage you tremendously!).

  7. I love leftover combos of toss it together and have a go. Yum. Love that you're gonna send Kris back with bakes. Dust bunnies, I know, right? I dusted part of the bedroom wall yesterday. Dust bunnies be gone.

  8. Repurposing leftovers and bits and bobs always makes something interesting. I did a lot of that when I was on my own in Yuma.
More bad weather coming this week - a casserole would be a good idea here too. I did pick up a turkey on sale at Co-op today so we'll be roasting that this week. There will be leftovers to turn into lunch meat, casseroles and soup!

  9. P.S. I know you bake often. Robin Hood flour is on sale at Co-op for $11.99 for 10 kgs. It was marked as $16.49 on the shelf but the flyer and the till had the lower price.

  10. The removing everything to dust was always what got me. Now in a smaller space for living, I don't mind that so much as there are fewer items. I certainly understand why you feel that way though.

  11. I'm sure your son enjoys taking some of your home made baking home with him. As for housework, I really dislike vacuuming, it is hard on my back. But I enjoy doing the washing and ironing!
