Thrifty and Frugal
The snow arrived at about 6:35 am. At times it was so heavy I could not see clearly down the hill to the gas station in the valley right below. Poor Harvey couldn't check out gas prices today and I was in a bit of a rush while out so didn't check for him. The wind has picked up now and the snow is blowing around. Should be some lovely drifts tomorrow.
So what thrifty and frugal things have I been up to this week.
1. Adding vegetable scraps to the bag in the freezer. Hope to make veggie stock very soon.
2. Baked bread and have a loaf in the freezer.
3. Working on projects to use up all those bits and bobs of fabric and yarn.
4. Paid the bills online (including the extra car insurance, just had to make up a nickname so I could tell the difference between policies).
5. Darned a pair of my socks.
6. Continued the decluttering.
7. Either using leftovers for another meal or freezing them for use later on.
8. My exercise has been walking around the house.
9. Used saved water to water the inside plants.
10. As usual hung two loads on the lines downstairs.
11. Downloaded some more free reading material onto my ereader.
I did go out and do some errands today before the worst of the storm hit. I got our allowances which will be handed out on the 15th and picked up a few items at the grocery. I also picked up the mail and we got a few more necessary forms for our taxes.
Everybody have a wonderful evening (or late afternoon).
God bless.
Hope you can enjoy the snow, we have not had any decent amount of snow in years, just relentless rain.
ReplyDeleteTake care in the snowy weather, Jackie.
ReplyDeleteYour weather sounds awful! We are rejoicing in a few palely sunny days at last.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good and frugal week, Jackie. You must be tired of the snow and wind by now. It was windy here today, but that is rare for here for some reason. My freezer was slowly emptying out, but a friend gave me a bunch of chicken today and it is just about full again. I'm grateful for sure.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy day. Glad you made it back safely. Be careful out there.
ReplyDeleteLots of good thrifty/frugal things on your list. I managed to sort some things in the garage this week and fill a bag for the next charity collection and sort some things to list on Vinted.
ReplyDeleteNot done much shopping this week, we should be able to live from the freezer next week and save a weeks shopping money. Hope your storm isn't too bad. Take care.
We’re in line to get 18”-24” through Sunday, give or take. Of course, they could change their mind. A friend and i made the hour trip to the town with Aldi and loaded up. (I took sandwiches for us.) They had SUN while we were getting several inches of snow. It made both of us feel lighter getting that vitamin D. It makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter said they just had blowing snow today, with no additional accumulation. I'm hoping that the weather will be much better by the time I arrive in the city late next week.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and dry!
Love the free ebooks. Reading is such a relaxing and wonderful hobby, and better if it's free! It's supposed to be 84 (unseasonably warm here, even being California), so we are on opposite sides of the weather spectrum! - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteWe're getting snowed on this afternoon too - enough already!! Reading about you walking for exercise reminded me that I hall-walk pretty much every day and have found some free chair yoga exercises online that I've added to my routine.
ReplyDeleteGot a stash of veggie bits and bobs as well. LOOOVE doing that. So fun. Bread-making is a constant here. Darning socks is on my list to learn how to do. I have such fun socks and my heels damage them all. Happy Decluttering.
