Unfinished Projects Getting Done

I thought that I would share some more of my unfinished projects with you all. When my dear mother left us years too early, Dad packed up all her yarn, embroidery projects, and knitting patterns. He gave everything to me, and slowly but surely I have been working my way through each of them.

This time I decided it was time to do these stamped embroidery pillow covers. I don't know where I will use them, or if I will give them away as gifts to others in the family. All I know is that working on them the past few weeks has made me feel as if my Mom is looking over my shoulder as I stitch away.

They are taking a bit longer to do than I thought they would. That's okay though, a person needs something to do on these long, cold winter nights.

Well off to pay everyone a visit. Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

A Few More Pictures of Vegas

Thought I would share this picture of the Luxor. I found the architecture of this building fascinating.

This is a picture of the Statue of Liberty in front of NewYork, New York. All around the base of the statue were uniform shirts of those who helped out in the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers.

These two pictures were taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower in front of the Paris hotel. Harvey had to take them as I was pressed against the back of the observation deck, cringing in fear. I don't know what possessed me to go up as I am absolutely terrified of heights. To think that this tower is smaller than the real thing, wonder how our son Kurt managed to go all the way up!

These two pictures are of the volcano in front of the Mirage hotel. It "erupts" every night on the hour from 7 to 11. It was quite the show.

Well thats all for tonight. I will be off to visit with everyone.

Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

Some Of Our Holiday Photos

This is a picture of the Bellagio at night. The hotel was huge and we kept getting a bit lost inside. So many wings and so many places to go. We did always manage to find our way to our room every night though.

These glass flowers greeted us from the ceiling of the lobby in the hotel. The picture does not do them justice as they were absolutely gorgeous.
This is a picture taken the first evening we were in Vegas. Harvey wanted to stay in the hotel with the "dancing" water. Every day we were greeted with a different display of the water works. It was breath taking, and matched the music so very well.

These next pictures were taken in the conservatory of the hotel. Every season the display is different. Boy would I love to be there when they got rid of all the plants. Right now it is decorated for the Chinese New Year.

Bamboo was growing every where.
Just look at the playful panda. This was one of four living sculptures included in the display.

A picture of the many orchids growing in one area of the garden.

This is a picture of a miniture pineapple. Mmmm, wonder if they taste as good as there full sized brothers and sisters.

This rich looking gentleman was the god of Good Fortune. He met everyone coming in to the conservatory.
Well enough pictures for tonight. I will post some more of our trip soon.
I am off to visit everyone now.
I hope everyone has a wonderful evening. God bless.

Back Home From Our Holiday

We arrived back home from our holiday to Vegas late last night. Today was spent doing laundry, grocery shopping and just enjoying being in our own space.

The highlight of the trip was getting to meet Ginger from Enchanting Cottage. It was like meeting a long lost sister. Harvey was a bit worried that I would not recognize her, but for some reason when this lovely lady and her husband walked by I stopped dead and said "Ginger" and she said "Jackie" and we were suddenly hugging each other.

We talked all through breakfast about blogging and the Frugal Living forum where we first met and when the time came to leave, I was so sorry to see her and Wayne leave. My husband is very quiet and the two men got along very well. I sure wish we could have spent more time together, but who knows perhaps some day we will meet again.

Here is a picture of the two of us together in front of some of the flowers in the conservatory. We even have the same hair cut and the same colour hair!

This is a picture of Ginger and her husband Wayne. You can see in their eyes how much they care about each other.
Wayne gave us lots of sight seeing ideas and after we said good bye we followed up on as many as we possibly could.
I do hope that they both had a safe journey to visit with Charlotte. I said many prayers for a safe journey for them.
I will share photo's and stories of our trip in my next post. I just had to share my meeting with someone who I wish I lived closer to. I think that I would be spending a great deal of time with Ginger if we lived closer together.
Thank you so much Ginger for travelling so far to meet me, it meant so very much to me.
Have a wonderful evening everyone. I am off to visit you all.
God bless.

A Question Answered

DW asked how the chair backpacks worked. I honestly had thought I had posted a picture, but I guess I hadn't. So here is a photo of how they work.

There is a pocket that goes over the top of the chair and the other pocket is available for the children to put papers, books and other items in.

I put them on the chairs while the teacher and students were having their class meeting, and when they noticed them the students were so happy. This has cleaned up the floor in our room a great deal. I even got hugs from a few of the boys!

I spent the last few days sewing black curtains for the stage at school. I finished them at school today, the principal gave me the afternoon off (kind of) to sit in the library and get them finished. I think she plans on hanging them first thing tomorrow morning for the performance for the students in the afternoon. Sure hope they look good.

Now I can get back to work on my boxful of unfinished projects.

Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

Finished Up A Few Projects

Our futon for the basement room that I am turning into a library finally arrived yesterday. Harvey had fun putting it together and then decided to have a nap on it. He had to test it out! He says that it is very comfortable and our son Kurt should be able to sleep just fine on it when he visits.

I finished all the costumes for the school musical this week. I had to add a double layer of braid to one girls jeans as her pants were just way to short. They turned out very nicely and all the girls now want me to add braid to their jeans! I told the it is not going to happen.

I have spent part of my free time working on an embroidered baby quilt. It was finished yesterday. What do you all think?

I tried to keep to neutral colours so it would be suitable for a boy or a girl. Boy is it hard not to use blue or pink when doing embroidery work. The machine quilting took awhile as my wrists would start to hurt when I worked on it for any length of time.

Then yesterday and today I figured as I had all the chair backpacks cut out for the students in the class I work in I might as well get those finished up as well. The teacher will be so happy as now the children have no excuse about not having things all over the floor. I made 17 of them and they seemed to do up in a matter of minutes. Actually took me about 3 hours total, but I am pretty happy with the results.

Here is a picture of all 17 of them on my dining room table.

Now I can relax and finish up a couple of other projects that have been on the back burner for awhile.

I am getting so excited!!! Only 17 days until I get to meet Ginger! I think this is the most exciting part of my trip to Vegas. I think Harvey is wondering if I will ever stop counting down the days.

Well off to visit everyone. Have a wonderful evening. God bless.
