Tuesday Tidbits And Stuff

It has been pretty warm today, so my planting stopped at around noon, when the heat got pretty sweat producing. I don't have much left to do, and will finish it all off tomorrow.

Harvey has decided that he is going to plant some sunflowers in the center perennial bed. Perfectly fine by me as long as he makes sure that he does not plant in the areas I already have plants coming up. Kind of scared he might think my Blazing Stars are a weed.

Today my new reed for the loom arrived. This is actually the one I should be using with this thinner yarn. I will remember that the next time I want to get more tea towel yarn.

Not going to be finished all the projects and goals this month, but not really many will be carried forward and those that are will be finished at a decent time in the month of June.

I discovered more potatoes, so I think I will need to make some perogies for the freezer, and I think I might try my hand at making some fries for the freezer as well. Taking a break from baking bread tomorrow and getting other preparations done for the arrival of the boys on Thursday of next week.

I loved the pomp and ceremony of King Charles giving the speech from the throne today. He sent a message to our neighbour's president that " The True North is Strong and Free". Take that the person who thinks Canada is for sale. Cause we aren't and never will be.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Hi Jackie, I was very glad to hear King Charles giving the speech as well! Yes, it was definitely directed at our neighbour's President! LOL!
Sounds like you are getting quite a bit done; great! It was also hotter here in Montreal today as well, thankfully so far not too bad, but I keep my windows closed so that the heat doesn't come in (I am in a 6th floor apartment).
I also have the blackout drapes on my windows that keep the heat from the sun out.
My air conditioner is ready, though, better to be prepared beforehand as opposed to waiting until the high heat and humidity strike.
I enjoy your posts, thank you so much for sharing.

  2. I don't trust Bill in the gardens here either. I have to clearly mark what is flower and what is weed by circling them with rocks etc. LOL

  3. An excellent message from King Charles. Please know that so many of us do not agree with Trump on this or other issues. I picked green onions and kale from our community garden today.

  4. Never tried making perogies but really should because I don't think they'd be that hard to do.
The speech from the throne was a good one and have to admire King Charles making the trip at all. Sure sent a message to the orange idiot (but doubt he's smart enough to realize it).

  5. We are so glad Charles gave that speech. There are many here in the US, who are depending on Canada and the UK to help us through this mess. It's not your responsibility to, but boy do we need the help!

Tommy wants to plant sunflowers too and I also want him to wait until more stuff starts coming up. And I do also need to bake bread!!!

  6. King Charles is very tactful but got the message across, I think!

  7. Many of us down here appreciate our neighbors to the North. Please remember, only 31% of our eligible voters put "it" in charge. I blame those 90 million eligible voters who shirked their duty and didn't vote!!!

  8. I was pleased to see King Charles read the speech from the throne. While the comments weren't overly overt, he certainly confirmed that we will never be the 51st state. I always laugh when he suggests the US needs nothing from Canada, but makes comments suggesting we should be part of the US.
My daughter finished the planting of veg at the house in town. Everything seems to be doing very well thus far. She takes me for a walk around the yard via video chat every few days. :)
Mom used to get so annoyed with my Dad because he tended to hoe out plants she didn't want removed. I love the idea of sunflowers, they'll be so bright and cheery, and the birds will like them too.

  9. I also liked that message from King Charles! I need to go through our freezers again and create space. Mostly we have bread products in there, because we can never use it before it goes off. Time to start planning meals that use specific items (naan with shawarma, etc). - Hawaii Planner
