Another week has passed by, and I am trying very hard to be frugal once again. After 2 weeks of not being frugal it is time to put on the frugal belt and pull it a bit tighter.
1. I have been watering the few plants left with the rainwater in the barrel.
2. Following the menu plan once again and making sure all is eaten or frozen for use later on.
3. Started to make a pantry list and will hopefully finish it tomorrow.
4. Put $70.00 in the savings envelope and $5.60 in the change jars.
5. The windows have been open to cool off the house on the days it hasn't gotten too hot out. Closed when the temperature rises too high. The air conditioner only turned on once this week and not at all the previous weeks. The mornings are slightly chilly, but I layer up and am nicely warm.
6. Baked buns and bread and did so at a fraction of the cost of ready-made.
I think I have made a good start at getting back on the frugal trail.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
I think you could probably teach a class on being frugal! I love your ideas and ways to save $$.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that we only had the a/c on two or three times all summer but unfortunately we had to cough up $150 extra to the landlord at the beginning of the summer to cover projected increased hydro usage due to having an a/c unit. We certainly lost on that one, but it's a gamble. Wish they'd be nice and give the money back but we know that won't happen.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make our own bread, and we've done it before with great success. However, it's always an unplanned activity. I need to do better with thinking ahead. I'm impressed that I found enough burgers in the freezer for dinner last night (I was out), but didn't think ahead in time to make buns - I bought them instead. They were inexpensive ($1.99), but with more pre planning, ours would have certainly been tastier. Ah well, I did avoid eating out, which is a win itself!
ReplyDeleteWell done. Isn't it satisfying to be frugal
ReplyDeleteI'd say you're definitely on track with your frugal ways.
ReplyDeleteI covered the a/c yesterday. It might have kicked in this week but I keep windows overnight and while it is cool in here in the morning, it keeps the temp lower throughout the day. Especially when I close up the sun room too. Doesn't make the cat happy but he doesn't pay the bills. :)
Great on the saving! I just started to open windows at night to let in cool air and save!
ReplyDeleteI have not made bread in a while it would seem, so today is the day. It's on the rise. I made one loaf, and some rolls which we will use for Thanksgiving dinner. It is such a savings, and my family loves the homemade. I have been a slacker for a while since I was ill in December. Strength isn't what it used to be. So I'm happy I felt like it today. .
