Sunday Ramblings

It has been very quiet today. After Mass, Harvey decided to go ice fishing. He didn't catch anything but he got out in the fresh air and had some fun.

Me, well I made next weeks task list, did the few household tasks that were necessary for the smooth running of the homestead and then got to sit and embroider on the quilt square for the afternoon. I have almost finished the second corner, which if there is any sun and any time tomorrow I will complete and move on to the third corner. I may have to pull out my Ott light in order to continue as we are supposed to be getting rain and then snow. I hope to get out and get most errands done early.

Looking at the long range forecast it says lots of snow for later in the week, both here and in Regina where Kris resides. We may not be able to get there to visit as Harvey has a dental appointment early in the following week. We shall see, I am keeping my fingers crossed as to a change in the forecast.

Blocks have been put together to make the lap quilt and if it is too cloudy this week I will be sewing that instead of embroidery. Got to keep as busy as possible for the foreseeable future. I have lots of projects to complete this month so no problem keeping busy.

There is a great sale on mushrooms this week, so I am thinking of purchasing extra and pulling the dehydrator into service. I need to use that appliance even in the winter months from now on so as to stock things up a bit. Freezing works but I am trying to clean out the veggies I froze last year so as to make room for next years harvest.

I wish I could say I have been staying away from news, but that would be a lie. I need to know what is happening so I can be prepared for whatever happens.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. I dehydrated the last mushrooms we got too. It certainly keeps them much longer. You are coming right along with the quilt corners. I have an appointment very early in the morning, and with daylight savings time it will probably be dark when I leave. I hope it’s not too cold.

  3. Yes, it's a fine balance between knowing what is happening vs. the overload that isn't good for us to deal with.
I'm toying with suggesting buying a dehydrator just so we can keep more food on hand than what will fit in the freezer.

  4. I don't see how you can stay away from the news. On our side, they are hoping we won't pay attention, so they can get away with what they want. Working on your quilting must help calm you. I need some sort of handwork like that!

  5. I sure hope the forecast changes. Dehydrated mushrooms are my favorite thing to dehydrate. So easy and they last so well.
    Have a good week.

  6. I don't have a dehydrator, but if I did, I'd want to try pineapple & mango, both of which I love to eat dehydrated. Hope you get better weather!

I'm supposed to be going on a hiking trip to Sedona, and the few days before we arrive are going to be gorgeous, and when we get there - snow & rain! Let's hope the forecast changes. :-)

  7. It's snowing here this morning, lightly, and the temperature has dropped. It looks like we'll have about 3 cms. today and tomorrow, and the 7 day is suggesting a couple of cms. almost every day through next Monday. (Weather network) As long as it doesn't dump all at once, it really shouldn't be too bad.
    Have fun with your projects!

  9. It's definitely difficult not to keep up with the news. Its a double edged sword. You want to keep abreast of what is happening, but want to ignore it too.
