Saturday Roundup

A very short post tonight and not really a roundup of the week.

I am a bit discombobulated. This morning our oldest son Kurt called to give us a bit of news. He had developed a bit of a cough on Tuesday and so following the Covid-19 protocols for schools in Alberta he left and went and got a test.

Last night (well very early this morning actually) he got his results. He has Covid-19. Not a bad case really according to him, but now he is in quarantine, and staying home. This means he will need a sub teacher for the next 13 or so days.

Also he is 9 hours away from us and there is absolutely nothing that we can do to give him a hand.

He has promised me and his Dad that if things take a sudden turn for the worst he will head to the hospital immediately. Kurt does say there is one bright spot in this whole thing, and that is he will be immune for at least a month (perhaps 6) and so won't worry about bringing it home to us at Christmas.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

PS

He did follow all protocols and has no idea of how he managed to catch it. He did say the virus is really making the rounds in the town he lives in.

I will visit you all tomorrow, right now I have to do some more pacing, and worrying.

  1. I'm so sorry! I'm sure this is worrying to you. Does he live alone or have a roommate? Can someone make sure he has all the food, meds, etc. he may need? If he has that covered and has promised to go to the hospital if it gets worse then that is all that can be done. Is he at college? If so they should have a protocol to help quarantined students. Also, remember most younger people have very mild cases. But I know, it still doesn't keep a mother from worrying - I am the same way! I will keep him and you all in my prayers!

  5. Immunity is GOD's built in for us, it protects us all the time. He'll be up and around in no time. I can understand your concern because you are far way, GOD is close. Take care of yourself.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear this Jackie. I can understand your worry - our children may be grown but they are still our babies. Sending positive thoughts that this is just a mild case and he'll recover soon.

    Take care and stay well.

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your son, it seems teachers are sitting ducks in all of this. I don't think schools should be open for live teaching. I hope he feels better asap. Hugs

  11. I am so sorry about your son. My husbands partner at the High School came down with this also and he followed all the protocols. I know you are worried as we were with our friend. He said just like a bad cold. It is hard as a mom not to be able to get to them. take care I will say a prayer for him and for your comfort.
