As I contemplate the last week and look towards next week and those following, I really think that I need some slow time. Time to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of fall, before the snow comes and we are once again in a endless vista of white.
I don't know how I plan on doing that, but perhaps I can take a day or two to just sit and enjoy. My problem is knowing that there is so much to do before winter hits and my nesting habit begins. In actual fact it probably has already started.
My menu ideas are becoming much heartier and more meat based, I am pulling out projects to work on that are slower, or that I know will never be finished before winter is over. I am collecting reading material on my ereader and computer so I don't have to leave the house.
Stocking up on things like candles, laundry detergent, dishwasher tabs, mostly those things that I would have to drive across town for.
Planning one last trip to the city in order to visit with Kris and do a bit more stocking up on things we can not purchase here.
Life does slow down in the winter, I just wish it would slow down in the fall.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
Fall is the time we need to enjoy and just soak in the goodness. I understand the feeling.
ReplyDeleteI've cut somethings out of my life and I feel much better for it too, slowing down is good.
ReplyDeleteI just love it when time slows down in the winter. I'm never happier than spending time at home working on projects or the house. Time passes so quickly these days. Any excuse to slow down is a good one as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteWe do have to push harder to slow ourselves down. No one will do that for us. 🤗
ReplyDeleteMy winter slowdown began today and I don't do near what you do!
I think winter is naturally a time to slow down.
ReplyDeleteWhile we have fairly mild winters, there are still things we need to do before.
I do hope you find the time to just sit and relax and enjoy what remains of fall. There is always something that needs doing around here too, but then I remind myself that I'm retired and not on a time clock. Some things can and do have to wait.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Nothing beats hearty winter meals. Although our winters are no where near as cold as your, no snow where we live, I love making soups, stews, casseroles in winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is so much to do in the fall too that it's hard to slow down sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting your blog from Farmhouse Worthy. She kindly shared the link. Things really do start getting busy in the fall and it doesn't slow down for me until after the Christmas holidays. But, it is also my very favorite time of year.
