Dust Mops and Weather

Bet you are all wondering how these two things go together.  Well, today we woke up to our second snow storm of the year.

Harvey shoveled us out this morning at about 10 and by 2 this is what was on our front steps again.

There is more there now. I am terrified to open the door. After all there could be a sea of white blocking our way out.

This is what my car looked like at 9 this morning.

Now, well multiply that amount of snow at least 2 times..... There is a 4 foot high snow drift behind it. Thank heavens for snow blowers. It has started to snow again so there will be even more by the time we get out tomorrow morning.

Now as we are more or less storm stayed I decided to finish off my first ever dust mop cover.

Here it is before I put it on my mop.

And here is the finished product on the mop.

There are a few changes I would make on the next one, but all in all it turned out not too badly. Another step on the way to reducing my carbon footprint I hope.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Have you tried using your mop yet? I didn't note the date of your post so I don't know how long ago it was. I have used mine several times and it washes up beautifully. "Swiffering" is one of the few household chores that I can muster, usually, at least once a week.

  2. I have used it a few times and will be throwing it into the wash today. I do like to use it, so much so that my next knitting projects for leftover yarn will be a couple more of these.

    God bless.

  3. Thanks to your mention of a list on a whiteboard, I started a SMALL list last night (errr, this morning at 1:00 AM) of the little projects I want to crochet. My overall ToDo craft list is way too long to fit on J's old whiteboard on the side of the armoir so I keep it in an excel spreadsheet and then I can strikethrough when done and feel like I am accomplishing something.
