Frugal Tips For Saving On Shopping

Or perhaps some tips those of us who have been following the frugal pathway for awhile and have forgotten.

Saving On Grocery Shopping

1.  Start with some basic tasks like creating a grocery list after checking your cupboards, freezer and pantry, use a calculator to check the unit costs, and always check your receipts for errors.

2.  Price match if available where you are.

3.  Comparison shop. Do this while shopping and make a price book of the least expensive.

4.  Use any coupons you can find.

5.  Use cash back credit cards (only if you can pay them off monthly).

6.  Buy in bulk if possible and you have the storage room.

7.  Buy produce in season. One can always freeze or can any extra you can find.

8.  Buy generic, but only if you like that specific item. It is not saving if you try something and waste it because you don't like the taste.

9.  Avoid purchasing pre-packaged food.

10.  Stock up during sales.

11.  Buy local. This can be done at Farmer's Markets.

12.  Grow your own veggies.

Just a few more money saving ideas.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  2. One of the drawbacks to apartment life is not having a whole lot of space to store bulk purchases. We try as much as we can with the space we have though. This morning we're off to the farmer's market in quest of a basket of roma tomatoes to hopefully make some jam. I could buy what we need at the grocery store but they don't sell them in large enough quantitites.

  3. Hi Jackie, Thank you for popping over. The other option for the penny rug mat was to use black backround which I think looks more traditional, not necessarily easier on the eyes! Have a beautiful weekend.

  4. I agree with Magpie, many people are limited in space for freezing/storing items. When I lived in the north, I used to buy case lots of canned items and stored them under my bed. My kitchen was far too small to have a pantry.
I do price comparison and purchase sale items as often as I can. The Flipp app is my friend.

  5. Great tips. Unfortunately, we don't have sales and coupons where we live, but we try most of the other things.

We're also small house dwellers so it's not always easy to store large amounts of food. I miss having a pantry but did come up with creative ways to store shelf stable food in other places around the house.
