Frugal Tips To Begin Your Journey

And perhaps a few that some of you haven't thought about before.

1.  Purchase your meat in bulk if possible, and you have a place to freeze the meat. Then once home package in smaller amounts to feed your family.

2.  Buy flour, rice and beans in bulk. Those are pretty easy to store.

3.  Make your own bread and buns.

4.  Cook in batches. Plan a batch cooking day or two and make meals to last for awhile.

5.  Grow your own herbs. These are easily dried in the oven, or use them fresh.

6.  Wash your own car.

7.  Do all your errands in one day. Saves on fuel and time.

8.  Ask your employer if you can telecommute a day or two a week.

9.  Always be decluttering. Things you don't use just take up room and perhaps could bring in some extra cash.

10.  If something breaks try and repair it first. Lots of repair videos out there on the internet.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. A further note on herbs - Resident Chef chops our 'crop' from our balcony and then lays it out on cookie sheets to freeze before repackaging into zip loc bags. That means nice fresh-tasting herbs all winter long.

  2. We’ll get fined if we wash our vehicles at home. The run off pollutes the streams. We have way too many cat washes in town. Every time there is a groundbreaking- it’s either a new car wash or a tattoo parlor! We just had our washed and it cost 39.99. I about had a cow when my husband told me about it.
I need to open up a car wash business.

  4. Great tips. We do nearly all of them. We're self employed, which can be stressful at times (when there is less income than in better months), but it gives you also much freedom and time - that time we can use for doing "frugal activities".

  5. The city frowns on people washing their vehicles, but it's not an issue here. Mind you, I tend to prefer to run it through the Co-op car wash...I don't do nearly as good a job.
Decluttering is a big one, when we unpacked the craft room/office here, I realized between my daughter and I we have enough stuff to stock a small store! We made a rule not to bring anything more into the house...but that hasn't seemed to have worked.
