This is what I came up with. It is absolutely amazing what a person can find in the hidden corners of a craft room. All I ended up buying was the grapevine wreath base. I took apart some old artificial flowers, some stems of coloured leaves and found the pumpkins nesting in the bottom of a closet. The ribbon was part of a swap I took part in last year.
I still have a ways to go in my decorating scheme, but at least I have started. Now just to head over to the neighbours to collect pinecones for my winter project.
The weekend went a bit downhill after this. Seems that we need a new alternator for our Trailblazer. We went to church and when I came out after putting the lectionary away (I was a proclaimer at Mass) found Harvey sitting in the SUV without it running.....strange. When I asked him why it hadn't been started he turned the key. Nothing....not a sound. Good thing we only live a few blocks from the church.
We had the car towed this morning (turns out it was closer to this afternoon) and we will be waiting for at least another 12 hours before it has been fixed. I ended up taking a cab to work and walking to the shop after work. I did get a courtesy car to use tomorrow until ours is ready.
So my Sunday afternoon was spent making Eggplant Parmigian for the freezer. I ended up making 10 containers for use during the winter. My freezer is getting pretty darn full, perhaps it is time to invest in a bigger freezer.
Well it is off to visit you all.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteYou sure are a busy lady. I love the wreath. I haven't even started decorating for fall, but have brought my houseplants inside. It was chilly on the weekend but today was beautiful.
I just emailed you the five words for the meme. Enjoy.
Blessings,
Mary

Your wreath is so pretty! Jackie I truly think that cooking ahead and freezing it is such a great idea. I wish I had enough energy after work to do that. I am having some test done, I'm sure things are fine but I would love if you were to say a small prayer for me.
ReplyDeleteDid I ever mention to you that eggplant parmigian if my FAVORITE meal!( I think I tell you this everytime you make it;) I wish I could just pop on over for dinner;)
Have a wonderful and safe day,
Ginger
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to make eggplant parmigian for us when I was growing up, and we loved it. I have never made it, and now you've inspired me to give it a try! I enjoy stocking the freezer and pantry with things we've grown, too. Never know when we might need it.
I hope your car is ready soon. I know how it is to be without your transportation!
Have a blessed day!
karen
Hello dear Jackie:-)
ReplyDeleteI just love the wreath you made, it's beautiful! I started decorating yesterday after I had unpacked and did laundry so I'll be taking pictures for tomorrow's post.
A full freezer for the winter months is a good thing:-) I still have more tomatoes to can, as well as shred some zucchini to freeze so need to get at that this week.
Glad to hear that my weekend trip post brought back a lot of memories for you about Port Colborne:-) I had never been there so it was quite a treat, such a lovely area!! xoxo
How clever! That's a great-looking wreath!
ReplyDeleteAs for the car .. ouch! Look at it this way ... at least it didn't die on you in January! Hope it gets fixed soonest!
Jackie, your wreath is so pretty...a nice welcome for your entry hall. I'm kind of behind, I haven't even got my fall things out...need to get busy.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy preparing for winter. Eggplant Parmigian is a favorite of mine but I don't fix it too often. You are going to be enjoying some very nice meals:).
Car problems are the worst...I hope you have your car back soon...hugs, Linda
I hung my wreath yesterday. Wishing you a Blessed week..m..
