Midweek and Midmonth

As is usual lately the days and months are whizzing right by. Lately I find myself wishing that things would definitely slow down, I need more time to simplify things and prepare for winter's cold and snow.

Today all I did was the few tasks on my list, and the extra cleaning listed was putting away all the solar lighting and removing the garden decor.

After doing that I really needed to warm up as there is no sun, a cold wind and a misty rain. After a cup of coffee I pulled out the embroidery and did what I could on that. Putting that aside I watched a few things on YouTube, and then brought out my knitting. I seem to be starting the "wanting to work on something new and exciting" part of my crafting cycle. It is becoming very difficult to continue with these two projects. Yet if I want to get things completed I do need to work on these and no others for awhile. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be finished the knitting project soon and can move onto some sewing projects again.

Sent care packages home with both the sons, and I am hoping that the one I sent back with Kurt keeps him in food for awhile. Striking with no pay is not great. He also got a gift card from Kris for his birthday which will probably help pay for some of his gas on the return trip today.

My menu plan will be changing a little bit as I made lots of Turkey Tetrazzini for last nights meal and so will be eating that tomorrow instead of what I had planned. The Ham Pasties will be moved to probably Saturday, and leftovers from that on Monday. Then Monday's meal leftovers. I should be back on track by Tuesday (fingers crossed).

Sales should be starting very soon on items I need for Christmas baking (which will be hid on Harvey), but I don't think I will make as many treats this year as other years. For sure Harvey and I don't need them, and I have noticed that our sons don't eat as much of that type of thing as they used to. Still there are family favourites that I will make.

Off to get the table set, and the soup on. Once that is done I will be trying to visit most of you before supper.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Gosh it is mid month. You sound like you have a good plan. I have been working on yard work here. This old gal gets tired a lot quicker now days!

  2. My sons rarely eat the sweet desserts or goodies they used to enjoy. Their loss is my DIL and step- daughter’s gain.
That’s the kind of rain we had - misty rain. I liked it.

  3. Working on something new and exciting gets the juices flowing. You accomplish quite a bit, though, in spite of the not so exciting sameness. I’ve been working on apple butter today and apple scrap jelly. Neither will be done by bed so i need to cram everything in the refrigerator and hope it fits without too much effort. I need a plan for the rest of the apples but not tonight.

  4. I agree with you Jackie - the weeks & months are going by so very fast. I wish it would slow down sometimes too!

  5. I did away with a lot of my holiday baking a few years ago. The cost of everything this year might make others pause and reconsider their holiday baking too. And we definitely do not need the sweets here as we are both still in weight loss mode.
I have some outside work I want to do today including leveling off the driveway in an area we had worked done on this week.
That was nice of Kris to get Kurt the gift card for his birthday. That will come in handy as they’re still on strike.

  6. My daughter has taken over for the Christmas baking so I haven't done much the past few years. But like you, I figre i don't need to eat as much of it.

I left Eli's sweater at home as I was ready to move on even though it wasn't quite finished up. I plan to get back to it in December. But there is always a UFO kicking around.

Stay warm and dry. It seems we're in for more rain.

  7. Hi Jackie, I know well that feeling of needing a project done because something else is beckoning. And in bigger projects, it can get to be a bore. But as you say, necessary. Meanwhile, I do not bake nearly as much as I used to. And I seem to be going down a road of looking for/wanting more healthy but still tasty things. Anyway, sunny but cool here...we've had a couple of overnight frosts.

  8. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving with your family. I too suffer from wanting to start new projects, usually before I've finished current ones. I have spent a few hours today cutting out a new project and then trying to make progress on existing sewing projects and have made some progress, which is very satisfying as it means I will be able to start exciting new projects. I just need to figure out how to re-thread the overlocker I got for my birthday, so that I can use it to finish current projects and then use it on new projects.

  9. Sounds like you're managing to keep those squirrel moments at bay and concentrating on your projects already underway. I'm doing the same thing here at Chez Magpie but have to say it's difficult!
