Thrifty and Frugal

Thrifty and Frugal

This should have been the post I put up yesterday, but for some reason I lost track of the days going by. So you get my thrifty/frugal practices for this week today.

1. Hung three loads on the lines downstairs.

2.  Combined errands once again.

3.  Using up the items in the fridge for making new meals or to make soup.

4.  Batch cooking and baking where possible.

5.  Windows open to cool off the house, no air conditioning at all this week.

6.  Furnace on just to take the chill off the house in the morning.

7.  Free coffee at a friends.

8.  Researching reusable K-cups so as to be able to make my own instead of purchasing.

9.  Shopping my craft supplies for fabric and yarn to continue making Christmas gifts.

10.  I pulled out my regular cotton batting and will end up stitching some together in order to make the oven mitts, but I will not waste batting under any circumstances. This is very expensive and I will use up all I possibly can.

11. Starting to make my own cleaners. I am making some orange cleaner right now.

So these are what I can remember right now. I really need to add some new frugal and thrifty ideas.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. We’ve not had to turn the heat on yet, but it was chilly enough one morning that I wanted to turn it on. And yesterday morning I walked out of the house only to walk right back in and get a sweater to wear as it was chilly. I love not having to run the air though.
The batting is so expensive nowadays! Sometimes we see it on the second hand market, but it is rare. We do buy it when we see it there though.
I’m going to make some homemade window cleaner after several suggestions in my blog comments this week.
Combining errands is the smart saving money way to run errands and is the method we use too.
Sounds like a real good frugal week for you all, Jackie.

  3. You always have some really good ideas Jackie and I enjoy reading about them (and have implemented several).

  4. I use a reusable K-cup with our keurig machine and just use the regular ground coffee. You can buy them on Amazon or here is one at Home Hardware: https://www.homehardware.ca/en/my-k-cup-universal-reusable-coffee-filter/p/3849509?attributionToken=gQHwgAoMCO6iq8cGEKDUxcQBEAEaJDY5ZTNhOTljLTAwMDAtMjIxNi04Y2RhLWQ0M2EyY2ZjYWZlZioDMS4xMiiQ97Iwt7eMLcLwnhXUsp0Vjr6dFZjWty2o5aotm9a3LY3Ajzf26MMwOg5kZWZhdWx0X3NlYXJjaEgBWAFgAWgBegJqdg
