Sunday's At My Place

At Mass today the priest talked about being good stewards of our time, talents and treasures. While I give of my time. talents and treasures to my church, I am afraid that sometimes I do not do the same in my home.

After much pondering I decided that it was time that I sat down and talked to God about what he needed me to do. I prayed long and hard about this and think that now I understand. I need to step back a bit more and let others take a leadership role in the Church, this will free up a bit more time at home to do the homey things I have been missing. Other people need to step forward and give of themselves if we are to have a vibrant, alive church and I need to step back and allow this to happen. I know it will be tough when I have always been so involved, but I do need to spend more time working on those other things that are important in my life. such as my marriage, my home and myself.
Later this afternoon, Harvey decided to bring in the garden. Or at least some of the garden so that he could till the empty spaces.

The first thing he brough in for me to get ready for the winter was the turnips. I cut them up and put them in bags. These are the last 5 bags of the 15 I did up. Should be able to have turnips for awhile this winter.

Next he brought in some of the green peppers for me. I did save 4 of the largest ones to use in the stir fry we had for supper, and as veggies for the rest of the week. The rest I cut and bagged for the freezer. They will sure taste good in stews and stir frys this winter.

Then it was on to ripe tomatoes. I did up 5 more bags to freeze for the winter. I will use these in tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce and soups. I am pretty sure that with the other 15 bags in the freezer I will only need another 20 to see us through the winter. Hopefully there will be enough left to make some juice with, but the way we have been eating BLT's I could be kidding myself.

I decided that it might be a good idea to dry some herbs, so my dehydrator got a work out today. I dried some more Chocolate Mint, moved on to the parsley, and the thyme got trimmed and dried as well. I still have oregano to dry, but I think my dehydrator needs a rest as much as I do.

Well off to visit with all of you. Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

Where Has The Time Gone

It has been almost a week since I have been able to do any blogging and I have missed you all. While I am getting better at organizing my day job, house and time for my self (I actually scheduled in some down time) I guess I have to work on blogging time.

Over the past week the trees have been busy changing colour. Here on the prairies most of our trees turn yellow, gold or a bronzey brown. I finally realized that perhaps God is mimicking the colours of the farmers fields when they are ready for harvest. You have to search for the brilliant reds that I remember growing up with back east

This Manitoba Maple turns more brown than any other colour and the leaves shrivel to nothing. I do wish the same would happen to its seeds, as I spend a lot of the spring digging tiny maple trees out of my gardens.

I did manage to find a bit of red though. My Virginia Creeper turns a bright red in the fall. Once it attains it's full autumn beauty I will post a photo.

I joined a 4 month swap a little while ago, and my swap partner lives in Mississippi. Brenda sent me some lovely gifts to start off my fall decorating. Harvey loves the candy she sent. I have most of next months box ready to go and plan on sending it out very soon.

Just look at all the lovely gifts Brenda sent me. I have already hung up the apple basket, had a cup of tea and enjoyed a pumpkin cookie. Thank you Brenda for all your lovely, thoughtful gifts.

Well off to visit all of you. Have a wonderful evening. God Bless.

Sunday Thoughts

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. So far this school year it really hasn't been. I have been playing catch up on my weekly household chores and spinning my wheels in the process. I think in the last three weeks I have actually had one Sunday where after Mass I could sit and enjoy all of God's creation around me.

Today is not going to be any better. I have a load of laundry in that will be ready to be hung in a few minutes, another load ready, and a third load in the midst of being sorted. This afternoon I have a church related meeting just about an hour away, and yesterday I spent all day in Regina at another church related meeting.

Don't get me wrong I love my church, and the meeting yesterday was so very interesting. It was on Stewardship and being good stewards of our time and talents. It has just made me wonder if I am being a good steward of my time....... I think this is something I need to ponder in prayer for the next week or so.

Thought that I would show you all the scarf and toque that I have made for Kurt for Christmas. There is also one mitten sitting there as well.....the other still on my needles....hopefully finished this week.

Off for a quick visit

Everyone have a wonderful restful Sunday. God bless.

A little bit ago I said I would join in on a Circle Journal on Bears in Exile. To my great joy the journal arrived today. Now I get to read about my blogging friends around the world. What their days are filled with and pass on a bit of a look into my daily life. I have spent the last 4 hours reading these ladies marvelous stories and can only hope that mine comes close to theirs. I will try very hard to keep to the rules and only have the journal for two weeks before I pass it on.

Everybody have a wonderful evening. God bless.

Geting Caught Up

This morning I have a bit of time on my hands so I decided to post some awards that I have beem lax on posting.

My thanks for these awards go out to Mary at Mary's Writing Nook.

I would like anyone who reads my blog to take one of these awards as I have made so many friends through blogging and been inspired by so many of you that there is absolutely no way I could choose.

I would like to pass this award on to Ginger and BJ. These two ladies have been my blogging friends for what seems to be forever. I know that they have been friends to many other bloggers as well.

All of you ladies are just so creative, that I want to pass this one on to all of you as well.

Computer Problems Once Again

Okay I know that sometimes I am computer iliterate, but sheesh, first Hotmail does not recognize me and now Blogger has made me start a whole new blog due to being locked out of my old one. Now comes all the fun of setting up my layout once again and notifying everyone of where I am now located.

I need to leave for Mass in a few minutes so I will finish this post off later and start adding to my layout.

Talk to everyone later.

So now that I have my favorite Blogs back and running, it's time to notify all my blogging friends of my new home address. Hope this goes as smoothly (some how I doubt it as my computer keeps hiccuping and causing problems). So after I have visited you all today, please if I am on your blogroll update my link to this blog instead of the old one. I will still check in there for awhile, but I can not post to anyone from there. I will do more tweeking as the weeks go by, who knows I may actually get this blog exactly the way I want it.
Now on to more interesting topics.

This summer I have worked on a few things in the knitting and sewing departments. More in the knitting I am afraid. I do have a couple of tops cut out that I need to get at.

I made another neutral baby afghan for our oldest son Kurt to give to one of his teaching collegues.

I also made a new one for the back of our couch. Something nice and warm to wrap up in on those cold Saskatchewan winter nights.

This was one of the summer tops that I actually cut out and finished. Remember I said I had two more to finish up. I hope to be able to do them once the garden is harvested.

Here it looks kind of baggish, but it really turned out nice. I saw one similar to it in WalMart and they wanted $24.99 for it. I made this one for around $4.50 not including my time. Add that in and it cost me about $17.00 to make. So I saved quite a bit making it myself and had fun doing it too.
Well I am off to visit everyone.
Everybody have a wonderful afternoon. God bless.
