Canning

This year my cherry trees were just loaded, so I spent about a week processing them.







After washing them, and checking them over.









Came the preparing of the pie filling, making of cherry liqueur, and drying.











This took all of two weeks. But we will be enjoying the proceeds this winter.

Family Reunion

A weekend at the beginning of the summer was spent with Harvey's family. We gathered together at Prince Albert National Park. A wonderful time was had by all. Many members were missing (our own sons could not make it), but hopefully we will all be there for the next one.









Here is a picture of the family that was there. This is the brothers, sisters and their significant others. We were missing a husband, he was working in Alberta.












This is a picture of a very strange goose family. It caught our attention and I just had to take a picture.

One Of My Many Sidetraking Projects

This is my latest quilt project. It is just the quilt top and I will have to sandwich it tomorrow. Hope to get it done by the weekend.

A Month Gone By

I can't believe that a month has gone by already!! Where does the time go.

No pictures this post, but I promise to put some up soon.

The family reunion went as well as can be expected. Not everybody could make it due to job demands, especially the younger generation. Perhaps the date will be better in two years, however no one offered to organize this next one.

I am really enjoying my vacation at home. I am sewing, even doing some sewing for income. Strange for me cause I really don't know what to charge. I even bought.....are you ready.... An Embroidery machine and so have been learning how to use it and fooling around with it. I am having so much fun!!

I have also spent a great deal of this past month thinking about retirement and pulling back from some of my volunteer activities. I am heading into a stressful position at the other school this year. It seems the student I will be working with the most has changed from the sweet child I knew in kindergarten. She now hits out, bites and kicks..... I will probably need the time away from volunteering to relax and unwind.

Harvey is talking more and more about retirement and I really would like to be able to spend time with him and not worry about going to work.

Off to do some sewing.

Family Reunion Two

Well today we leave for our family reunion in Northern Saskatchewan. We thought we would be leaving the rain and dark skies behind. Nope the forecast says .... rain. Guess we will be bringing it with us as we travel.

Hope to have lots of pictures and stories to share with you when we get back.

Once again blogger will not let me publish in IE (or perhaps it is the other way around). Thank heavens, the youngest of our sons put FF on our computer as well. Trying that now.

More Flooding Pictures

Blogger is making me work tonight. I need to edit the Html every time I post a picture. Here are a couple more.The highway as seen on a hill over looking the valley.


In this photo you can see the highway being covered by water. The bridge was built up over a meter in our last big flood the spring of 77. Didn't seem to do much good this year. The water is running over it about 2 feet high.

Please keep my city and the surrounding area in your prayers. We really need them.
