Simple Living

Right now my simple living is decluttering, and using things up in the stashes. I think the less I have to worry about the simpler my life will be.

So today I went through the bookcase in the living room and started clearing things out or putting items where they really belong. I think I will probably continue with this tomorrow and then move on to my closet and drawers. I really do have lots of clothes, many of which are pretty worn or I never wear anymore. Time to simplify my wardrobe, I keep thinking how wonderful it will be when I can just keep all my clothing in the closet, instead of moving it every two seasons.

I actually found the book that I used to write down my UFP's in and I am considering doing that once again. I need a record of what I need finished and the ability to cross the finished projects off or I just forget all about them. This will simplify most project finishes for me.

Now that the weather is once again changing I really feel like drawing in and getting even more ready for the winter. There are still things that need doing around here to make our home cozy for the winter season. I would love some new heavier curtains in a few of our windows to block out the cold. I will look at the Salvation Army and the other secondhand store we have in the city.

I just want to stay home, do my exercise indoors, and wrap up in a shawl or nice warm lap blanket. This is going to be an interesting winter as I really do not want to go anywhere.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. I never want to go anywhere in the winter and would happy stay home without setting my nose outside at all. Now that I've gone through everything in my sewing room I have ideas for projects to use things up but it will have to wait until I get the Christmas stuff done.

  2. The season is changing here too - at least for this week. It got down to 39 as a low! No wonder my feet were cold. Next week looks like a week to have soup and read! I’m bringing out our blankets, washing them so we have them to cuddle in. Plus starting to think and plan my simple Thanksgiving coming up. Nothing fancy - it’s who is at the table rather than what’s on it! We’ll have the turkey and trimmings but I don’t want overkill on the foods. Keep it good and simple. That works for me!

  3. That was my goal as well - not to have to switch out clothes for the season! I can now fit everything in my closet/dresser but I could still use some thinning! Clothes and shoes are the only hard things for me to declutter - I'm merciless in all other areas ;)

  4. It is snowing here today, and we've had a couple of inches already. That always turns my mind to staying indoors and hibernating.

  5. Your winters are so much colder than ours here in New Zealand. Although to us it seems cold and miserable outside, it's just what you are used to, I guess. But we dont have snow everywhere like you do that must be hard to cope with.

  6. I need to do some decluttering in our house at some point. Things are building up again. I love staying indoors and nesting during the autumn and winter. My favourite time of year by far.
