Menu Monday

So cold today. None of our vehicles will start and I am pretty sure the SUV needs some kind of repair, either a new battery, or alternator, or block heater. This has been going on since we had the plug in repaired, but never this bad. Harv's truck is not taking a charge very well either so probably needs a new battery as well. Of course this happens when it is -50C with the windchill.

However, those problems will hopefully be taken care of over the next few days (though the SUV will probably need towing). I also doubt that we will be going to visit Kris this coming weekend.

Here are our weeks menus.

Monday

Small sausage casserole. This is layers of potatoes, carrots, peas and onions. Then smothered in tomato soup/water mix.

Tuesday

Pork chops in mushroom sauce, rice, peas and carrots. I will slice up the remainder of the cucumber, one of the peppers and use up the rest of the grape tomatoes as another side with dip.

Wednesday

Leftovers from the fridge.

Thursday

Leftover roast beef made into hash.

Friday

Fish fillets, and perhaps some homemade fries (if I get to go shopping and manage to get some potatoes). If not fries probably rice.

Saturday

Spaghetti and meat sauce with perhaps a salad of some kind.

Sunday

Pork roast which I will probably marinate and serve with rice and mixed veggies.

So there it is. I am hoping to be clearing a few things out of the freezer and fridge.

Breakfasts will be yogurt, toast or oatmeal. Lunches sandwiches or leftovers.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. I'm so sorry your vehicles won't start. I suspect there's a lot of vehicles with the same problem. I complain bitterly about the snow we keep getting here but when I hear your temps I think I'd better be grateful for what we got.

  2. I would imagine with those cold of temperatures that vehicles will just not work as well. Can’t blame them! Too cold for man, beast and automobiles! Stay warm.

  3. My oil light came on today! And now the price of oil is going up and my next oil change will cost so much more! This cold weather is brutal! But that means I can leave stuff out of the back porch, rather than trying to deal with my freezer. However, I still wish it was warmer!

    Your menu looks very sensible.

  4. So sorry your vehicles wouldn't start, I hope you can get them sorted soon. I just cannot imagine having to deal with temperatures as low as you get them. You have lots of nice warming meals on your menu.

  5. Are you vehicles kept in a garage or outdoors? I think if the latter, those temperatures are going to make it hard regardless if they are plugged in. Hopefully the warm up over the weekend will see both vehicles running again. Good luck!

    1. My SUV is in a shelter, but not what one would call a garage. The truck is in the open.

      God bless.

  6. It is sucky when there are vehicle problems....UGH
IF you have to have it towed will your car insurance cover the tow?
You know how I love hash, made some last night after thawing the leftover roast, toes tapping and hands clapping, so good.
I hope your vehicles are fixed soon.

  7. But you are warm and cozy and have food to eat, so you will be okay. Cars are like kids constant....
