Another quiet beginning to the week. Not really because I have nothing to do, because I do, but more weather related.
While we are getting nothing in comparison to places a bit further north, the freezing rain began about 2 hours ago, making me so glad that I did my shopping yesterday. No reason to head out and be on the roads with all those crazy drivers.
Kris, up in Regina has been getting lots of rain. I hear the roads are sheer ice, like skating rinks. I will be phoning him later when I am sure he is home safe and sound.
Kurt, in Drumheller, is in the midst of a blizzard and so I will be checking in with him later as well.
I just want my family to be safe and sound.
I have been doing a bit of baking (bread) and working on projects. The list for this month is slowly being completed. Pictures to follow on Saturday. I may even be able to get a few other projects that aren't on my list. Super good.
Finished the Minimalism book, and realized that by living a frugal life, decluttering and organizing I have actually been doing many of the recommended things in this book. The book also states that a person only needs to follow this kind of lifestyle in the way that suits them. I do know there is no way I could ever get rid of the pictures I have displayed as is talked about in one chapter. My life while not one of minimalism, it will be a more simple one as I declutter more and more. Learning to enjoy the quiet times and the times with my family.
Here is a shot of this mornings sunrise, which did not stick around for very long.
Don't mind the reflections in the window.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Pretty picture of the sunrise. Hope you and your family remain snug and warm.
ReplyDeleteI hope your family is all safe and sound at home now. It sounds awful.
ReplyDeleteDear Jackie, blizzards can be dangerous. I wish the best for Kurt that he will be safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo.
I'd surely be checking in with my boys as well. I always think of my one son that bikes to work - even in storms. Just a few miles and he says he enjoys it, I just can't imagine why he continues to do this when it rains. Oh well - it's on him. 🤔
ReplyDeleteThe weather sounds awful further north of you. I hope both boys are safe and sound too. Your sunrise is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, very important I find to declutter in a way and amount that suits you the best. Not a book. I had saw one writer once tell their reader to get rid of any colours because it didn't suit him. No. No. Someone else doesn't get to make that choice for me.
ReplyDeleteNope.
Here's to your family being safe and sound and for you and wonderful rest of the year. Happy 2026.
Everything was covered in ice this morning even the snow. So slippery when i took dogs out. I hope all is well in your world and your sons are safe and snug at home.
ReplyDeleteYour picture is wonderful Jackie. Sorry to read of the nasty weather you are having lately. Yes I agree - we can take the minimalism side of things & use it how best it suits our lifestyle. I want to do some serious decluttering in the New Year. xx
ReplyDeleteFreezing rain sounds absolutely awful. So very dangerous. I would be concerned too. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm sure minimalism shouldnt mean getting rid of absolutely everything. We need the reminders of family joys, and beauty around us to feed our souls.
ReplyDeleteWe got about 50 cms on the ground, and with the wind it blew in at least knee deep and higher in some places. My daughter and I have been out to shovel already this morning, getting the paths around the house cleared. The parking pad out back must wait until it is light out.
ReplyDeleteI spoke with my son last night, he said the main streets weren't bad, but the side streets were terrible.
Hope Kris and Kurt made it through the storm.
