Saturday Roundup

My week has been spent cleaning, trying to get Christmas treats made (this last has fallen by the wayside the last couple of days), decorating, and setting up the budget for the next year.

With the economically inclined folks saying prices will be rising next year on groceries, I am trying to plan for those increases. Loads of fun.

I have also been working on those projects that I started at the end of last month and hopefully I will get those done by the end of next week. I really want to get some of the new projects started and finished. Mind you one of the goals for this month was to get the house decorated, plan Christmas Eve dinner, plan Christmas Day dinner, and bake those Christmas goodies. All of which are well underway or actually finished (in the case of the dinners).

I am so looking forward to actually perhaps managing to get all the projects (plus a few I have added, but not written down) done this month.

The tree we put in the back alley has disappeared. Harvey hopes the family a couple of doors to the west of us managed to snag it. They have three children and I know money is tight for them. Keeping my fingers crossed that is what happened.

Once again no pictures happening as nothing has really been completed. Most of my baking has been pictured on my blog in previous years. Simplifying has meant that really nothing new has been done in that area.

Kris sent me a text today asking if I had heard anything about my sewing machine. I told him I planned on phoning either Monday or Tuesday to see if there is an update on the repair. I certainly hope that I will get it back by the time Kris comes home for the holiday.

I am enjoying the time leading up to the holiday this year, life is finally slowing down and allowing me the time to take in all that this season of Advent means. I manage a study in the mornings while having a coffee, and I get to enjoy the lights and the joy of working on those things I really like to do. I have seen people that I have not seen in many years and enjoyed a conversation with them, even if it means my shopping time is a bit extended.

Life is moving in exactly the way it is supposed to as I age, and that is absolutely wonderful.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Great deal on everything! Do you ever dry food? I'm doing that right now with cranberries and we'll have them for all year. Only a buck a bag at ALDI, well, really 99p so that's a great deal. Even when food prices go up, there's always a little something something good at ALDI. I find. Happy Christmas Month!

  2. I am posting also about the food price increases on my blog tomorrow as well, as it was all over the news here in Ontario this past week.

  3. Sounds like a nice week. I hope the folks with the kids got the tree or at least someone in real need.

  4. I hope to find that contentment in the near future. Our children are so far away that we do most of the traveling to them rather than the other way round. We’re getting there, though. Good for you! You’ve earned it!

  5. Dear Jackie, you are getting a lot done. Here in Montreal ❄️ we are getting a lot of snow.
However, the temperatures are supposed to drop significantly to frigid conditions.
I am preparing for this and will dress warmly.
God bless you, dear friend. 🙏

  7. I managed to get all the decorations on the tree - had to repair a few ornaments that have seen better days but are still valued. The day went by in rapid speed.

  8. We’ve been cleaning and decorating for the holidays here too. I have the majority of my shopping done, so I can slow down and enjoy the holidays. I still have at least one project to complete and hope to finish that this week. I hope the family with the tight budget snagged the tree too.

  10. So glad to hear that your simplifying is paying off and you are getting time to enjoy your life more, especially at this busy and chaotic time of year.

  11. Isn't it wonderful that plans fall into place without much effort.
I honestly can say that I was more of a fly by night type of gal as a younger lady and that was good since I had upsets/ changes that would/could have sent me spiraling when things went south.
All good though as I aged. 🤗

  12. Glad to hear someone took your tree and hopefully it was that family that needed it.
After the rush to get the parcels to our family shipped out (that happened on Monday), I can relax and enjoy the season. Now it's just the social 'things' that are on the calendar that have to happen.
