Thrifty and Frugal Thursday

Thrifty and Frugal

I am feeling much better today, but I know that if the weather fluctuates as much tomorrow as it has been, well the back ache will come once again.

We are also supposed to get some heavier snow through tonight and into tomorrow. Good thing Harvey shoveled the back deck off and did a bit of snow blowing as well.

So what frugal things have I been up to this week.

The usual watching how much water we are using, drying clothes on lines downstairs when possible, using up all food by either eating them for lunches, having another supper from them, or freezing things before they spoil.

I did the grocery shopping this week (probably another reason the back was angry) and got what I could on sale and managed to pick up a few items to put in the hall pantry.

Used decorations from other years to decorate my tree. We are going to sell the other one online and see if we can make a bit of cash.

Fixed the hem on one of Harvey's t-shirts.

Making sure lights are off in rooms not in use.

Plans made to use up various craft supplies in the sewing/craft room so as not to have to purchase more before items are under control in that room.

Old towels have been taken downstairs to Harvey's work room so he can get rid of the old threadbare ones he has been using for years.

Baking bread and treats for Christmas.

Making candy instead of purchasing for Christmas treats as well.

I hope you all have had a thrifty and frugal week as well.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  6. Okay, did I already comment?? It's good you're feeling better - lets hope you stay that way! I have started baking yet. My sons are like me - no sweet tooth. Seems it is only the girls who love the sweets!

  9. Happy to hear you are feeling better. I cleaned our living rooms and put up our tree and some of the decorations today. Very pleased to get that job done. I'm donating our old larger tree this year, as it's to time consuming to assemble it and we only need a small tree these days. Tonight, I'm going to chill and find something to watch on Netflix.

  10. I've been spending the past couple of days going through every.single.item in my sewing room with the eye towards doing more downsizing of 'stuff'. So far there's one bag of paper heading for the recycling, one big bag of garbage, and two tote bags filled with books and magazines heading for the Friends of the Library book sale. Some part balls of yarn have either been turfed altogether (not enough to use for anything beyond making clutter) and some have been put into project bags with plans to make them into something to use them up.
