Merry Christmas

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas. I will be taking the next few days off of posting, but will be back after Christmas.

Off to visit with Kris and then get supper started. We will probably be eating a bit later as Kurt got a late start home.

Everybody have a wonderful holiday spent exactly how you like.

God bless.

Merry Christmas to All

All is quiet here this morning, we got more snow overnight and it is still gently falling. Temperatures are warmer and my cough is a bit looser. Still not feeling very well, so I will not be attending the family get together this evening. Harvey might go for a bit just so he can see his brothers and which ever sisters show up.

I am going to finish this coffee and head to the couch for a lay down. Both Kris and Kurt are pretty shocked to see me laying down for a rest. It isn't something I normally do.

Wishing you all the best on this wonderful day.

 God bless.

Thursday TidBits

I think I am over my shock and distress over what happened to our southern neighbours yesterday. I hope and pray that everything is over now and there will be a smooth transition of power. Though one never knows what will occur or set things off once again.

I promised you all some pictures from Christmas and so that is what you will get.

Gifts surrounding the tree.

Eiko standing guard at the door to where Kris was sleeping. She takes her duties very seriously and would not leave the doorway until he got up in the morning.

Kris opening one of his gifts from Kurt.

Kurt opening his gift from Kris. He was quite taken with the book, and other goodies included.

Harvey opening his gift from Kris. Turns out this is one of those bar globes, but this one is especially made for wine. It is now residing up in the dining room. Probably so I will be the one to dust it.

Me opening all my lovely smelly bath products from Kris. I even have metal containers which I will be using to plant various things in this coming spring.

Harvey opening his gift from Kurt. He has another autographed photo for his collection of sports photos.

Opening my gift from Kurt. I got a lovely sleeveless lined vest to wear when I am walking, a 23 and me kit to send in (we were informed that eventually all of us would be getting this as a gift), and school pictures.

Kurt opening his gift from us. As you can see he really does not like getting his picture taken.

Kris on the other hand knows that I like to take pictures of gift opening and does not mind posing at all. Here he is with the card I made (which contains some cash).

Though this picture doesn't look like it, Harvey really did like his sweater. Mind you now he says it is extremely warm.

My gift from Harvey was a gift card to download books from the Kobo ereader store, and a Qray bangle.

Now my birthday falls 4 days after Christmas and because the boys are never (or I should say very rarely) still here I open my gifts Christmas morning.

Lots of candles from Kris.

As well as some lovely bath salts.

This beautiful wax melter and some wax melts from Kurt.

Harvey got me a lovely sterling silver angel necklace. Didn't get a picture of that. Nor did I get a picture of our Christmas feast as the boys call the evening meal.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Keeping The Spirit Of Christmas Alive

I interrupt my regular posts today.

We have a few senior residences in our city that are quite often forgotten over the holidays. There are always gifts for those in the nursing homes or long term care at the hospital and at the private nursing home and yet many are still forgotten.

Now during this time of upheaval, and restricted visitations I decided that it was time to remember them all and am playing Secret Santa to the two places that are closest to me.

This morning when I went for my walk I made my first delivery. A bag full of homemade scarves for the one place. I never thought that it would be plastered all over Facebook, or really make that much of a difference.

I spent much of today while mending, and knitting (mostly because I couldn't concentrate on baking, guess multitasking went out the window) trying to figure out what to do for the second residence in my neighbourhood.

After supper it came to me. This place likes to do puzzles!!! So on Thursday I will pick up some puzzles, a game (perhaps dominos) and drop them off with a card (sneaking in of course).

I know that they will be unable to gather for awhile, but these will be something for them to all look forward to when gathering restrictions end.

I am really having fun doing this, and knowing I am making even the slightest difference during this time is the icing on the cake. Sharing hope and love, the first two candles on the Advent wreath is making this season so much more important to me.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Sunday Ramblings

Things have calmed down a bit, or at least I have calmed down. I talked to Kurt again tonight and he is feeling okay. He says he gets very tired easily, and his sense of smell might be off a bit, but other than that and a bit of a cough he is doing well.

I didn't tell you all yesterday, but he was also having a bit of a plumbing problem and needed a plumber to snake out his sewer line as things were backing up a bit. Of course because he had Covid no one would come. The poor guy thought he was going to have to live in filth for 10 or so more days.

Well he was letting another friend know that he had Covid and the conversation morphed to his plumbing problem. His friend managed to get ahold of someone who had one of the big electronic snakes that plumbers use and brought it over to him. This wonderful friend even helped him carry it into the house and down the stairs as Kurt said it probably weighed 300 pounds.

Plumbing fixed, and I have a happy (or at least as happy as possible) son.

He will be doing live streaming of his classes starting tomorrow until he can get back in the classroom, and has friends who are phoning and checking on him often. I can breath once again.

Today I got the tree finished, while watching Christ the King Mass live streamed from the cathedral, and it doesn't look bad at all. Christmas is slowly arriving in our home. Pictures of decorations once I am totally finished will follow. I even have an Advent program to follow online.

My baking/candy making list is hopefully complete and I will start on that right away in December. Things are definitely getting down to the crunch.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Early Morning

It pretty much seems that the only time I get to check or post anything is in the early morning. So I will take the time to catch everyone up on what has been happening here the last few days.

Christmas Eve we headed off to Mass, one that I thought would be a great deal shorter, but turned out to be as long as if Father A had been there. Mind you we could actually understand the Archbishop which we can't always say about Father A.

Christmas morning dawned cloudy and the sun pretty much did not appear the entire day.  I did go for an early morning walk.

My walk was quiet which was just what I needed to get ready for the upcoming madness.

We opened our gifts but yours truly was so busy passing things out I forgot to take pictures. I even had my camera ready for a change.

The rest of the afternoon I spent cooking. I did manage a bit of a walk at one point in the day (and I even got a small one in when Kurt and Kris were doing up the dishes).

The extended family arrived at around 7, I still was not quite done setting up, but things were accomplished quickly.

The cribbage players on their first game of the evening.

Nephew, great nephew (poor guy there really is never anyone for him to play with) and one of Harvey's sisters.

Harvey's brother and our two boys.

Two sister-in-laws that are married to two of Harvey's younger brothers.

That takes care of Christmas day. Will fill you all in on Boxing day and today later.

Everybody have a wonderful day.

God bless.

Saturday Roundup

I just can not believe it is the end of November. Looking out the window at the snow and ice it already looks like mid winter, but inside it is toasty warm and just perfect for what I have been up to the last half of the week.

I have put my sewing to the side (did manage to finish one project though) and started my Christmas baking. I have a feeling I have once again gone a bit overboard with my list. Yet with company coming Christmas day, Kurt and Kris being home for about a week, and my Prayer Shawl ministry meeting here on Monday for a little get together I think I might be okay.

Here are a few pictures of what I have made so far.

Chocolate coconut candy in the bag in front. Almond Bark in the bags in the back.

English Shortbread, though why the recipe is called that I will never know.

Homemade peppermint candies.

Whipped Shortbread cookies decorated with red and green cherries.

Butter Tart slice, since I refuse to make tarts any more.

Nanaimo bars, my favourite.

Peanut Butter slice.

The last two still need cutting and putting in containers.

Just a few more items to make, but as Harvey has brought up the Christmas decorations and set up the tree, I will have to stop for a little bit. Hopefully I will be able to get at least the Peanut Brittle made tomorrow (if I am really lucky the Surprise toffee as well).

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

More Twinkling Lights

Just a couple more pictures from our outing last night.

The last one was my favorite. Our city Fire Department. They did an awesome job.

God bless.

An Evening Drive

No Thrifty Tuesday post today, instead I thought I would share our visit to a small park to look at Christmas lights.

Three years ago a group of people and businesses in our city got together and decided instead of putting up Christmas Card lane in front of the Court House they would try something different. We have a small regional park just outside the city and they thought they would set up light displays.

The first year there were only a few displays, last year a few more. This year, however the park was wonderful!!

Here are some of the displays.

Please excuse Harvey's face. I was taking pictures from the passenger side of our car and he could not get out of the way. These are a bit blurry as well because we were moving.

After two flashbulbs in the face Harvey decided it might just be better to stop for photo ops.

More to come tomorrow, since blogger will not allow me to upload anymore pictures.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.
