And The Rain Has Stopped

The sun has shone for most of the day, and slowly but surely things are drying out with the help of a breeze. However, looking at the radar map on The Weather Network, it looks like we could get more rain today.

I went shopping today and man did I ever take a very long time. This time it wasn't so much comparing prices or looking for Canadian made products, it was seeing people that I hadn't seen for a very long time and spending time talking and catching up. If I want to cut down on the time it takes me, I will have to go earlier and see if I can miss all those people.

I also spent some time looking at a few clothing items that I need to replace. Just might take some money from my savings envelope and do just that early tomorrow. I really need new undergarments and those I refuse to buy secondhand or make (though I probably could if I put my mind to it).

My loom is set up and clamped down to begin warping it tomorrow.

I was going to do so today, but was just too tired and sore from the bending and stretching involved while shopping. I will do so tomorrow.

Instead I finished a book and started another, and worked on the knitted blanket. Should have been in the sewing/craft room doing a bit of work on clearing things up in there, but of course I didn't. May do some tonight after supper and before I go for a lovely soak. Things need to be organized and put away, and that seems to be a never ending task. At least a never ending task for me.

I bought some meat today that will need portioning tomorrow. Having a hard time not letting Harvey know that Kurt plans on being home for a few days the second weekend in June (5, 6, 7, 8 though not home until very late on the 5th). Kris plans on coming home as well, so planning meals, snacks and firepit times. I may have to check on how many firepit quilts I have ready to go (pretty sure at least three, but will need one more). Tough when Harvey is questioning why I need to get the deck set up and more propane purchased. Kurt wants his visit to be a surprise to celebrate Harvey's birthday (means I have to bake a cake without him knowing what it is for and to keep him from eating said cake).

Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Saturday Roundup

It has been a fairly busy week. The garden is coming in and I have been busy processing items between making Christmas gifts and cleaning the house. Needless to say the house is not as tidy as I would like, but hopefully that will change next week. I want it spic and span before we leave on our get away. I would hate the neighbour to see it the way it is now (she will be looking after Shania for us).

First off I made those Christmas tree ornaments.

Then I have moved on to making the mittens. I have 2 pairs completed and have almost finished the third pair. Hopefully I will have 4 pairs done by Tuesday (will post a picture when they are done).

I have frozen 15 pint bags of beans, 10 pint bags of tomatoes, and today I made salsa (hopefully another batch will be made early this coming week.

I don't know why I can never get a label on straight.

The last of the beans have been picked and the vines cut down. Oops I notice a little spot on the carpet that will need to be cleaned. Tomorrow perhaps.

Now that the beans are done I can concentrate on the tomatoes and the remaining cucumbers.

I got a bit of a surprise today. I won a draw at one of our cities businesses. I never win so was quite excited to see what my gift was.

I received a tin of loose leaf tea, a candle holder and small tea light as well as a lovely smelling sachet to put in one of my drawers. I may just have to enter more contests, perhaps my luck is changing.

Off to continue on the 6th mitt.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Thrifty Tuesday

Things are more or less back to normal today.

I really enjoyed my friend Kim's visit.

Kim and I first met through an online community on frugal living and then as time passed by became online friends through Facebook. She has spent the last two years travelling across the United States in an Airstream, and this year decided to make a trip into Canada. First she went to Alberta to see the town where her mother was born, and visit relatives. Next she came into Saskatchewan to visit me. We had a great time, and I actually found lots of free things for us to visit and do. Spent as much time as we possibly could together and Harvey cooked our meals as well as cleaned up. I think I got a bit spoiled, but I also fell behind on various household tasks.

I am all caught up now though, and moving ahead with all those projects and goals I had set for myself at the beginning of the month.

The two cross stitch projects that were supposed to have been completed last month are now done. Thrifty project, as these were in the stash of items given to be when Mom passed away. I still have two more to do, and then perhaps I can start on some of the kits that Kurt has given me over the years.

I have started to refashion the two dresses. In fact I have the first one more or less completed, just needs a good pressing. I found that more fabric needed to be added to the bottom of the top to make it longer (seemed a tad short) and I managed to find some coordinating fabric in my stash. Then I thought why not add some to the skirt as well. This managed to use up one of my rolls of 2" strips.

I am going to do the same to the second skirt and top set I am refashioning out of the second dress. This will use up another roll of 2" strips.

Two kind of new outfits at no cost other than thread and my time.

On Monday I got a lovely parcel in the mail.

This bag came all the way from Wales. Thank you so much Pam, it is just the right size for those on the road knitting projects I have planned.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Look What Came In The Mail

I meant to post this on Friday evening, but got caught up in the daily give and take of life. Meaning I spent part of the evening going over the Circle journal from the previous year and reaquainting myself with everyone.

Then yesterday afternoon, upon returning from my visit with a friend, I started to read the second journal. Today will be my first day of recording my experiences. So many of you lead much more exciting lives than I do, but I hope to leave with all of you a glimpse of what living on the prairies of Canada is like.

The other wonderful gift that arrived in the mail at the same time is this.... my book swap partner sent me these. Thank you Mary

I was partnered with Mama Bear from Bears In Exile/Return Home

Thank you Mama Bear for the lovely recipe book and the Heather Grahame novel. I really like to read her novels and this looks to be a great one.

Now I need to go and get a little done before we leave for Mass this morning. Hope to share some more surprises with you over the days leading up to Christmas. I will be visiting off and on all day. Kurt is home and I will have to wrestle the computer away from him at some point.

Everybody have a wonderful day.

God bless.
