It was a fairly quiet day for the day before Thanksgiving.
Harvey and Kris went fishing this morning and as Kurt was sleeping I had the morning to myself. I did the regular household chores and made a loaf of bread for Kris to take home when he leaves. Kurt said it smelt so good that he wouldn't mind a loaf to take home too. Guess what I will be doing first thing in the morning.
The weather has been absolutely wonderful. Even Shania (our cat) decided to go outside for a bit.
She decided to relax on "her" lounge. Heaven help us if we decide to use it.
Now after a supper of steak, baked potatoes (with sour cream, and bacon bits) salad and jalapeno's covered in cheese everyone (but me) is sleeping. Guess the apple pie will be eaten a bit later.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Sew Happy (Or Should I Say So Happy, A Bit Of Both)
Today has been a good day.
I managed to get one pair of pj pants sewn and another cut out. I hope to find time tomorrow to get them done, if not it will have to wait until the beginning of next week. The reason being Kurt and Kris will be home for Thanksgiving!!! I love it when they are home, even though they both seem to like to tease me unmercifully.
Don't worry though I will still be working on Christmas gifts. I will work on Harv's sweater while they are here. Not going to waste anytime and then say "Why did I not start things earlier."
Tomorrow I will be heading out to pick up the few remaining things we need for our meal, baking some pies, and making a birthday cake for both Kurt and Kris. Kurt was born on the 17th of October and Kris the 16th. Even though Kris will be back again for a week this month, I have always baked them a cake together.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

Keeping Busy
I have spent the day staying as busy as I possibly can. The victims of the accident yesterday were air lifted into Regina by Stars and by fixed wing plane. Does not sound good and my prayers continue for them and their families.
My prayers are also for the man that hit them. If the rumor is true I know him and feel for his family and him.
Last night I finished off the two rugs for Kurt and Kris.
I do hope they like them. That is two more Christmas gifts down.
Most of the morning was spent in the kitchen after the usual household tasks. I made a loaf of bread and started on the cabbage rolls.
These were full of cabbage rolls, but silly me did not get a picture before I packaged them for the freezer.
I picked out the sweater I want to make for Harvey and got that started this evening.
I also cut out a pair of pj pants and plan on getting them sewn tomorrow and another pair cut out. It's a simple pattern so I can't see it taking very long to sew.

A Bit Shaken
I went to the pharmacy early this afternoon to pick up Harvey's meds for the next month and while paying for them happened to look up and out the window to our main street.
To my shock and horror I saw two people being hit by a half ton truck!!! These people were in a new cross walk constructed in the middle of the block. While I stood there in horrified silence with memories bombarding my brain, some men ran in to get supplies to try and help the victims. I shook off my horror and helped the ladies in the pharmacy gather what we thought would help, gauze, sterile pads, and the like, loaded them into the men's arms and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
The victims were in their 60's so around my age and generation. I hope they are both okay as it took awhile for the ambulance, fire department and the police to free one of them from under another car. You see the force of the impact drove one victim under another car and pinned them there.
The memories that bombarded me at this time come from my daughters death. She was riding her bike and was struck by a car. Said car drove right over top of her and the bike and traveled another 500 yards up the road. I came upon her lying in the road with people working on her and I will remember that sight for as long as I live.
Please remember to tell those you love that you do love them because you never know when they might not be around.
God bless.

Menu Monday
Monday
I am pulling a bag of frozen ham that was leftover from another meal from the freezer and trying to come up with a hearty casserole. It is raining, windy and cold today so I think we might need some comfort food.
Tuesday
A bag of leftover pork from Sunday's meal made into Pork Hash. Served with cut up fresh veggies and dip.
Wednesday
My cabbage roll making day, so I am pretty sure that is what we will be having for supper.
Thursday
Spaghetti and meat sauce.
Friday
Soup and Sandwiches
Saturday
Hamburgers, fries, and baked beans
Sunday
Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, salad, an assortment of pickles, cranberry sauce, and pies for dessert. Kurt and Kris will be heading home on Monday so we will have our dinner a day early.
Everybody have a wonderful day.
God bless.

Sunday Ramblings
Today is the 27th Sunday in Ordinary time and the gospel contained the passage pictured above.
Much of Father Brian's homily talked about the beginnings of the Church and the marriage of Christ to the Church (the Church being the bride of Christ).
But perhaps what struck me most was something written in our parish bulletin.
"In today's Gospel Jesus teaches us about the sacredness of marriage; a covenant that is a gift from God. Our relationships with our spouses, family, friends, coworkers, and those in our community of faith are all gifts from God. Jesus reminds us today that it is the hardened heart that damages or breaks up relationships. Good stewards understand the holiness of relationships and pray for the patience, love, understanding, and kindness necessary to sustain those relationships."
Do I have relationships that need to be healed and reconciled? Is my stewardship of these relationships as God intended them to be?
I don't know, pretty sure I have to pray for guidance and strength to find the answers to those questions raised by the passage.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.

October, Where Has The Year Gone
This year seems to be whizzing by. Where the time goes I have no idea, one day it is January 1 and the next day it is October.
Oh well, it's time for my new goals for the month.
1. Keep working on Christmas gifts. This month I want to finish knitting the two rugs, 2 lap quilts (well they will be a bit bigger than a lap quilt per Kris's request), and 3 pairs of pj pants.
2. Move my fall/winter clothes into my closet and drawers. Go through clothing as I move it and remove items I have not worn or don't fit properly. Move the spring/summer clothing out.
3. Bake pies and cookies for the men in my life over Thanksgiving.
4. Finish emptying the pots and baskets of flowers.
5. Steam clean carpets.
6. Do my fall volunteering with Meals on Wheels and cleaning of the church.
7. Dig up carrots and potatoes and store for the winter.
There you have it, my goals for this month.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
