A Bit of An Update

I managed to get Kris's apartment trip free while up there, did some more grocery shopping for him, laundry was done, and things made a little bit easier for him. It really is strange to see my active and youngest child so incapacitated.

The trip home was not easy for him, but we made it back here. The pain seemed to intensify the longer he had to sit in the car. I am hoping the trip back to the city to see his specialist on Thursday is a bit easier on him. I also hope that I can manage to fit in the backseat of the car.

We had one day where he took very little pain medication, but he is still in a bit of pain and those pills are running very low. I am hoping that he does not need more of these as morphine is not the best thing to take for a long period of time.

I am sewing some items that will make his life a bit easier. His microwave makes everything really hot (like unbearable to touch, need an oven mitt hot) so I am making some bowl cozies and a plate cozy for him. I plan on getting those partially sewn today and finished tomorrow (I have prayer shawls today).

Wednesday I will take him to the bank, get what little he has worn here at our place washed, and start packing once again. I think that perhaps Harvey and I should take turns going up to the city over the next few weeks. Once we learn about the physio and when that will occur, we will make arrangements and decide what and how we will do this.

My posting could be off and on over the next little while, so please forgive me.

Everybody have a wonderful day.

God bless.

  1. Best luck with all you have to do. And good wishes, for your peace and calmness. Such things, are very difficult to handle, when they totally mess with our usual routine.

And hope he progresses quickly. And is able to be back on his own...

    Gentle hugs,

  2. So good to see you back in Blogland. I was wondering!

It sounds as though full recovery will take some time but I'm sure you feel better keeping an eye on him and doing the things which will make him feel more comfortable and really cherished.

  3. Poor kid! (I know he's an adult but our children are always our babies). I hope the pain settles down soon. Can he sit in the back seat with his leg extended? Take care travelling back and forth.

  4. So glad you are able to take care of your "baby" and I love how you are creating things that will help him once he's back on his own. One statement about the pain meds. If he still needs them, he needs them. He's had a huge surgery, and pain control is very important for proper healing. I think people have a gut reaction to opoiods these days, which isn't necessarily in the best interest of the patient...unless they have an addictive personality. I've taken them for years off and on b/c of spinal and orthopedic issues and have never had a problem.

Wishing Kris and you all the best!

  5. I'm happy to hear that you got Kris to your place okay. It must be a relief to have him home so that you can look after him. Don't worry about your posting schedule, we'll all still be here when you have the time again. Good luck with doctors/physio appointments over the next few weeks/months. Sending Kris our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

  6. Hopefully you will be able to adapt your plans as his needs are assessed each time you visit the doctor. Make sure you take care of yourselves too.
