Midweek Ramblings

We are the middle of the first week in November already. I have a feeling that this month is going to pass by just as quickly as the previous months. Scary how fast the time is moving by.

My Chicken Quiche turned out very well yesterday, and was quite tasty. There will be a few tweaks to the recipe the next time I make it.

These two pieces are in the fridge and should give us another meal each. Really not a whole bunch of cooked chicken went into this recipe either. We had some sliced veggies and dip as the side.

I will be going through my cookbooks and finding more ways to stretch bits of leftover meat. Next up will be some leftover brisket that really can't be made into a pulled meat kind of meal.

There are rumours that chicken prices will be rising due to the fact that more people here in Canada are choosing poultry as their meat. I find chicken to be pretty expensive right now and watch closely for sales.

Because of rising meat prices I am looking into more lentil and bean recipes as a protein replacement. I am very glad that Harvey is willing to at least try my concoctions. The next lentil recipe I think I will try is Lentil Tacos or wraps.

Still decluttering here, but right now it mostly seems to be my wardrobe. I tried on two tops today and hated the way they fit. Those hit the donation bag, however this is making me think that come January I am going to have to make some tunic tops or find some at a second hand store. The finding at a second hand store could be a problem as larger sizes really disappear quickly around here. Making could be the solution. I just have to wait and see how many I have left after trying things on and either donating or trying to figure out how I can refashion the items.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Sunday Ramblings

It has been a rather quiet day here on the old homestead. Harvey is not feeling well, so we stuck pretty close to home. I ended up watching Mass online. At least my back did not have to suffer through sitting on a very hard pew.

I did the few things necessary to get ready for the next week, such as making my to do list, and bringing up the main courses for our suppers.

I put away the few dishes in the dish drainer, cleaned emails, and even got into the sewing/craft room. Still more to do in that room, but at least I have put the fabric scraps away, and got some bags together for projects next month. I hope to do a bit more in there later tonight.

Once again it is dark and dreary so my crafting for the day has been working on my knitting. I hope to finish the first skein/ball off tonight and start on the second ball (however I am not going to push myself to get done).

Youngest son sent me a text yesterday, with a picture to show that all the lily bulbs he planted have grown, or at least started to grow. He also gave me a list of the flowers he wants to start for his flower beds and his pots. Oh, my goodness, he is going to have lots of plants. He is also planning on starting some beach plum bushes. I am kind of hoping that I can grab some calendula plants from him for my lotions and salves. Then of course there will be the garden veggies he will want to start as well. He has promised to start us some eggplant and some peppers as well.

I have been getting an ad on Facebook with lists of plants. I want to do a bit of a divide (well hiding a sightline) and I have been trying to think what to grow. This ad says they have a very hardy kiwi vine and that would probably work and actually give us a fruit to eat as well. Might have to do a bit of research on that and perhaps even order.

I hope to have some pictures of my various projects next week. I have actually gotten some of my goals and plans completed (mostly the cutting out portion) and need to share with you all.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Sunday Ramblings

I have decided I live a rather boring life. I get up most mornings, have coffee, moderate the forum I am a member off, check emails, check Facebook,  and follow the list of tasks I have set for myself. Day in and day out my life is planned. Planned almost to the last minute. Heck I even put reading down on my to do list......

I often wonder if I don't have a form of OCD or even Autism. Never been diagnosed with either, but I do have some symptoms of both. More towards the OCD side of things though. Funny thing is though whenever I make a project I will purposely add an error somewhere as no living person is perfect. Certain things need to be just so, but others I could care less how they look.

All this to say the idea of downsizing and moving is scaring the crap out of me. Like what will happen to my books, or my sewing machines, or fabric, or yarn. How on earth will I manage to do without my things.

Will I be me, Jackie, without what makes me, me. Or is it only that I think my things are what make me who and what I am.

Tough decisions are ahead, but I am sure I will eventually find my way through the maze that my mind is setting up.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Mid Week Arrives Once Again

Once again a quiet day. One that I might actually have gotten a few things completed.

Worked off and on in the sewing/craft room, picking things up, putting things in their rightful places and removing what does not belong in there. Lots still to do, many containers need to be labeled as of yet, but at least things are starting to be organized once again. How much longer it will take is anyone's guess. I need to continue to work on using up the stashes before purchasing more. I actually feel like a hoarder when I enter that room. I can label and move things around constantly saying I am "organizing" but until things are used it really isn't organized at all. I can make things look pretty, but still not be where I want to be. Time to get serious.

Worked on hand quilting most of the afternoon while watching Willow on Disney+. I am quite enjoying it. Next I will get back to watching some of the various Star Trek series. Give me a couple of streaming channels and my computer box attached to the television and I am happy. I am thinking of adding Pluto to the television since it is free and does have some live streaming events.

Started my shopping list for next week. Pretty small right now and I think I am going to add some stock up items that could last us for a year. I am hopeful that the price will be falling on those items at the end of a year.

Tomorrow I hope to go through the budget spreadsheet. I don't plan on changing things as of yet, but want to get a bit of an idea of what should be raised (I have a few items that I can enter that are unchangeable as far as having to pay them). I might also work on a few ideas to lower some of them, but that might not show up for a bit as of yet.

Off to get supper started and then to spend some time catching up with all of you.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.
