Sunday Ramblings

It has been a fairly stressful day.

This morning I went and got our readers settled into the service at the Anglican church. It was our ecumenical exchange and it was wonderful that all our readers had people to sit with and I was able to leave them to it. You see our rather aged cat was having a very rough morning.

We have had Shania for 20 years and I don't think she will be with us much longer. Poor dear is having problems moving her bowels, not eating very much, and has lost 1/2 lb over the last month or so. She now weighs only 5. 4 lbs. She seems to even be unsteady on her feet. I plan on making an appointment with the vet this week and if she is in pain (which she really does not seem to be) or has something that could cause her a great deal of pain in the near future we will be saying goodbye. Just the thought of having to say farewell is making me cry.

Right now she is sleeping beside my chair and I reach down and give her a stroke every so often.

Our fur babies take over our hearts as well as our homes.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. So hard when they reach the end of their lives and their lives are definitely too short. You and she have been so fortunate to have 20 years together.

  2. Oh bless you and your sweet Shania.

It is so hard to say goodbye, but as you say they take over our hearts and we're so lucky to have them in our lives.

  4. It is so hard when our beloved pets get so elderly or sick. Hugs to you both and how wonderful that you have had 20 years as loving companions.

  5. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about Shania's ill health. She's about a year older than my Sasha (and a tabby too). I'm thankful every day I wake up when he's still beside me.

Cats are very good at hiding their pain. I learned that when I lost Sami two years ago. By the time I recognized she was ill it was just too late. I hope there will be a different outcome for you and Shania.
