Midweek Musings and Doings

The day started out cold but sunny, now the clouds have rolled in and more snow is forecast for today. Winter seems to want to stick around for awhile longer.

Household tasks were completed very early, mainly because I didn't have that many on my list today. This meant that while the sun shone I managed to get more embroidery completed and then when my eyes stared to cross and the fingers cramp up, I moved on to another project. I sewed the remaining patchwork fronts to some totes. However I think this is just a way for me to put off sewing the jacket. Must at least start that tomorrow.

Hopefully there will be pictures come Saturday of some finished or almost finished projects. Got to keep working on those this month.

I did a bit more decluttering today and actually now have added 3 more items to be donated. I also told Harvey he would have to start doing the same very soon. This decluttering does not include items I am making for gifts, or to use things up in the sewing/craft room.

There was a very slight back off on tariffs, but not much to make a difference in anything other than the automotive industry. It is only for 30 days. The stock market is in freefall so who knows how peoples investments are coping. Pretty sure things will get worse before they get better. Time for all of us to practice frugality as hard as we possibly can I believe.

Off to set the table and get supper made.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. It's been rainy here all day and now it's very foggy. Glad we don't have to go anywhere!
Yes, frugality is going to be more and more important over the next while.

  2. You’re always the calm in the storm and i appreciate that about you. Like you, i have several crafty things on the go. I’d pull my hair out if i didn’t. We’re in the U.S. Thankfully, i’ve been stocking up for years. No toilet paper run when the lockdowns came. I may borrow your ‘tinkle cloth’ idea if things really go south, though. Go Canada! A lot of us are on your side. Keep the faith! You have great leaders!

  6. I hope your snow doesn't last. Well done on the decluttering - something which I need to start doing.

  7. It was chilly yesterday and colder still this morning. I'm not used to this! But it is supposed to reach the freezing mark today.
Goodness you accomplish a lot in a day. I'm starting the prep work to paint the basement. Though I'm not in any big rush to finish it.

  8. I keep saying 'I need to go through my closet again' and will but we always declutter in the summer.

  9. Keep the faith. I am also progressing with decluttering. Decided to save it all up for a yard sale in the spring summer months. I always feel like the drop offs I do might help others and be less commerical. A neighbor had a 3 day sale last summer d the last day was either by donation or free. I am thinking about doing something like that. Work has slowed down so I am cutting quilt blocks.

  10. While I am not as frugal as you are, I still consider myself frugal. I was telling my husband just yesterday that even if I won the lottery that I never play, I don’t believe that much would change. I’d still look for bargains, shop thrift stores, and do many if the things I do. It’s in my DNA not to be frivolous with money. Saving is my superpower! Spending for spending sake is not.

  11. There is proof now that the stock market crash in the 20's was orchestrated by the Kennedy's and Rockefellers. Or the wealthy pulling out all monies and then later buying back at trashed prices. If you note the wealthiest Americans have been selling off like crazy the last two weeks. Here we go again unless it can be stopped.

  12. All this tariff business is putting the world in a spin. I've been most impressed with your president, when I've seen him on TV.

  13. Sometimes the spring temps can be very cold here too Jackie - it can often be a wet chilly time here at the bottom of the world. We are in autumn now & its lovely, still with some sunshiney days. I look forward to seeing what you have made when you put up your pics. I can only read blogs when my computer allows, yesterday not at all but today I am seizing the moment as it is working (for now)!!! xx

  14. Unfortunately, it's not going to get better. They are literally looting and pillaging America.
