Sunday Ramblings

Sunny but fairly cool today. I don't think winter has left this tiny corner of Saskatchewan as of yet.

Woke up to extreme back pain, which is nothing really new when the weather has these fairly large changes. I will be rubbing some of my mint salve into the back and hips tonight.

I might have bit off a bit more than I can do with my goals and plans this month, but all I can do is try and complete as many of them as is possible. It actually takes my mind off what a crap show the world is becoming.

Knowing we can only control what we can control is really not helping. The worry of family members perhaps losing jobs, inflation rising, perhaps a recession hitting my country, is nothing if not nerve wracking.

Lots of articles on how to stretch your retirement savings are seemingly coming out of no where. Do we have enough to make it through our old age, when the necessary amount seems to be rising exponentially? How can we manage on our savings when now the number crunchers are saying perhaps we need more?

I worry about Kurt and Kris. How are they going to manage this down turn?

Yet life goes on. There is still beauty in the world. I got to see 5 mule deer on our street this morning.

Life can still be wonderful, we just have to weather the bad stuff.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Nothing in this world is guaranteed. We need to work hard and put forth effort in everything. Such is life - but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
    Blessings.

  2. Hang in there. We have gotten through both rampant inflation and recessions earlier in our lives and we can navigate this. The political and world relations is so out of my control but it is also eating away at me.

  3. It sounds like you have the right attitude Jackie - we just have to weather these things out when it gets rough, we can't do more than that. You have some lovely blue skies in your photos even though it does look very cold. xx

  4. I know what you mean about worrying about our sons and their jobs. Our youngest son (and our DIL) work for a lighting import firm in Surrey and if there's a huge downturn in housing developments due to the tariffs their jobs might be in jeapordy. Our oldest son is the chef and wants to get out of the city they're in but I wonder if he'll be able to get another job elsewhere. And then there's my grandchildren and the world they stand to inherit. It's no wonder I can't sleep at night.

  5. Sorry to hear about the back pain, you have my sympathies, it's so debilitating. How lovely to see those deer right in your street - we have deer in our neighbourhood but they're in distant fields, we don't see them nearby.

  6. While we may not be able to manage the big things: political unrest, a potential recession, etc., we can influence those who make the decisions. The easiest is to vote for those who will ensure that we are well represented, and support Canadians through difficult times. We can call, e-mail and write our MP's and MLA's to voice our concerns and request that they stand up for us.
In our small corners, we can give back to our communities, donating to the food banks, donating used items to charities, and so forth. Perhaps that's the best thing we can do, is care for one another, however we can.

  7. I am sorry about your back. I have so much pain at night. I really dislike waking in pain. It is like....what is the use. Keep hobbling my friend.

  8. It's good to look for the beautiful things to appreciate, especially when daily life seems so dark, chaotic and seemingly out of our control.
