Midweek Ramblings

Yep, definitely trying to keep calm this Wednesday. I just realized that there is only one week left this month. Wow, where did the time go???? I still have lots to get completed before the end.

The jacket was started today and things were going very well. At least until my sewing machine decided to leave those lovely "bird nests" as I call them on the bottom of my seams. So I cleaned my machine (lots of dust bunnies hiding in crannies) re threaded the machine and tried once again. Nope. So now I have decided that I was using two different thread weights and will do up another bobbin of the correct weight. I have already changed to a different heavier needle. Keeping my fingers crossed that this works.

The grocery list has been made and I will more than likely be shopping tomorrow or Friday. That will be the day all the errands done on that day. I will also pick up our end of the month allowances so as I won't have to do so at the end of April. Done this lots of times, I just put the cash away until the last day. This time I think I will take enough cash out so I can fill the envelope for the collection plate over the next month as well. Cheques are getting very expensive so when I can use cash I will.

Decluttering is continuing as I spring clean. Today the hutch and buffet were cleaned in the dining room. Removed another 9 items and put them in the donation box. Tomorrow I will do the curio cabinet and the one cupboard I didn't do a very good job of clearing. Planning to move my baking stuff (pans etc.) into a cupboard closer to the oven. I am getting a bit tired of rummaging through the shelves in the bedroom closet looking for what I need.

Papers were also organized and some trashed. Mostly recipes that we tried and did not enjoy. The organization part today was to get some patterns put into a binder. So many patterns to try. Along with probably almost a lifetime of yarn, I probably have enough knitting patterns to last forever as well. Not to mention cross stitch patterns and crafty type patterns. One of these days I will get going through all of those as well. This downsizing is making me crazy!!!

Off to see how many of you I can visit before supper is ready.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Once my study ends, I will have the time to tackle some chores that I’m looking forward to. So much to do…

  2. You have a lot of monthly deadline. I don't think I'd ever be able to keep up!

  3. You've reminded me that I need to have another delve into my saved patterns and no doubt will find quite a few I'm no longer interested in. I know for a fact that I have a number of mitten and sock patterns saved and I know that there's only one pattern for each that I use all the time.

  4. Nothing wrong with a good stash of patterns and materials.

  5. That is so frustrating when a sewing machine does that. I hope you can get it worked out today. Sounds like your spring cleaning and decluttering are coming along well. It’s so nice to get things done like that which you’ve been wanting to do for a while. I dropped off two mobility aids I no longer needed at our local People Helping People and that felt good. I love getting stuff done.

  6. I know, seems impossible that we're almost into the 5th month already.

  7. Sounds like much accomplished to me. I figure if it doesn't get done this month - well, there is next month!

  8. I have a pile of patterns too and projects I'd love to make. Darn life gets in the way, with things like housework, yardwork, and cooking.
I like your description of the bird's nests. I always assumed it was the result of my tension being set incorrectly - I've never thought it might have something to do with the thread weight.

  9. I love the life time supply of yarn too funny. Remember if your are having the thread ball up under your cloth it is always ALWAYS! the goose neck. Your thread take up is not working correctly or you are not getting the thread into the take up. This is easy to do with a heavier thread. I taught classes in machine repair. If this continues and you have cell phone pictures, I can coach you through,

  10. I sometimes have the same problem with my machine. I hope you get it working again. It's very annoying when it's not working properly.

  11. Organising and sorting things does take a lot of time. I managed to clear a whole lot of old records, DVDs and CDs, as well as an unwanted record player. The local music shop took them off my hands and gave me a price for them. I was pleased to see them go as they never got played these days. There were things in the garage that I got rid of too. Son in law took Robin's two toolboxes, and I donated an older vacuum cleaner and a dehumidifier tons group which looks after refugee families. These people arrive with nothing to set up a home.
