Saturday Roundup

I did not get as many projects finished as I had hoped, however by next week I am sure to have at least one more done.

I promised pictures of what I did manage to get finished though so here are the few I managed.

I added in the small 2" squares from the scraps left from cutting the 4" squares.

Another photo of the 4" squares.

I also managed to cut out the coat that I have procrastinated about for a number of months.

Started my weaving and while this looks crooked it really isn't.

Made new separators for between my pots to keep them from being scratched. The others were pretty darn stained and dirty for some reason.

Still working on the embroidery and getting so very close to being finished this block and moving on to another. Considering I will have another twelve to embroider before I can make the quilt I better step up on getting these completed.

The same can be said for the knitted blanket. Close to being completed but still more to get done.

I am wondering if having so many projects on the go is really allowing me to get the project list completed.... Probably not, but truth be told it keeps me from getting bored.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Mid-Month Goal Update

I am a bit later in posting this, but some of my other list (spring cleaning) got in the way.

1.  Copy 14 tried and true recipes and get them in the album. Done

2.  Work on cross stitch.

3.  Sew shorts. Done

4.  Sew top. Done

5.  Cut out a summer tank dress. Done

6.  Quilt the baby quilt. Working on this

7.  Start knit tank top. Actually almost completed

8.  Shred papers. Done

9.  Make an appointment with my prayer partner. Done

10. Go to the accountant. Done

11. Transfer fall/winter and spring/summer wardrobes. Done

Things are moving along nicely. I should be finished the quilt by Saturday or Sunday. The knit tank top should be done during the early part of next week if I am lucky. I think that I just might have to start adding to my goals list for this month, just so I have something to do with my hands in the evenings.

Cleared out all my drawers in the kitchen and did a spring clean in there. I am taking a break from cleaning tomorrow (well the spring cleaning at any rate) as my prayer partner will be dropping in. Things are being decluttered and put where I can reach them easily. I do need to do something about my cookbook collection. I have way too many. Any ideas???? Many a time I think that I should scan them and put them on a thumb drive. Having so many cookbooks to choose from is a daunting task when looking for a specific recipe.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Saturday Roundup

The sun is trying to break through the clouds, but so far has not been able to. Good thing I have other projects to work on and not just the embroidered quilt blocks. Though I would like to get at least one done this month, still getting other projects completed is giving me satisfaction.

I actually have some pictures to share with you.

First thing this week I sewed my summer dress.

There is probably enough left of this fabric to make a tank top or a pair of very light weight shorts. I think a tank top would be the better choice though.

I then moved on to another cut out sewing project. Hey when it is dark and dreary, sewing can and does (well usually) improve my outlook.

Remember the bolt of batik fabric (11 meters) that I ironed a bit ago. Well part of it went to make this skirt. I love this pattern as it is a fake wrap skirt and such an easy pattern.

There is quite a bit of this portion of the fabric left as well. Not sure what I will fashion out of the larger piece, but shorts and what Mom called a pop top (cause you just pop it on) could be the next items made. Which, will still leave me a good amount of fabric left over.

Lastly, I managed to get not just 2, but 3 aprons made from leftover bits of fabric. Used up some thread as well, since these will only be worn around the house, the contrast of the thread colours doesn't bother me at all.

After all this year is about saving money, using up what I have, and shopping at home first.

Next week I hope to get the cough drops made, the baby quilt flimsy done, my sweater put together, and perhaps some knitted mug cozies made as well. All will be using what I already have in my home. Oops, forgot I want to get at least this embroidered block done as well, so wish me luck on that project.

Everybody have a wonderful evening/afternoon.

God bless.

Tuesday Tidbits

Well it seems like blogger is not allowing me to upload some, if not all of my pictures. I shall see what happens by the end of this post.

I thought I would fill you in on the goals and projects I managed to get completed over the last week and a bit.

I recycled some of the skirts that no longer fit properly into useable fabric squares for quilts or runners, perhaps even fabric to sew something interesting to wear.

I decided not to upcycle my jumpers as really do I need more skirts???? Don't really need those as I still have a closet full of them. Time to actually wear them during the week, instead of just for church or other dressy functions.

I finished the knitted blanket for Kurt's Muslim friend. The green is for the prophet's favourite colour, the blue for the Blue Mosque and the little strip of white is for purity.

Pumpkins were processed and there will be more processing this week. Did one today and will probably take another two days to get them completed.

The first fully completed embroidered square. Hopefully I will get more of these done and pressed before I share a picture with all of you once again. I really should have given this one a press, but wanted to get a picture before I forgot.

I pulled some leftover yarn from the blanket I made to keep me busy in the evenings. I am knitting myself another fairly bulky sweater for the winter.

Christmas cards have been done and mailed, and I am actually surprised I got them all done this early.

Wow, got this post finished and Blogger decided to let me post pictures.....

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Saturday Roundup

It has been a busy week here on the old homestead. Trying my best to get the garden harvested and processed and things seem to be moving along just fine. This does mean harvesting almost every day something that is ready to be picked and figuring out what to do with said item.

The dehydrator has been running most days.

Peppers that were going a bit soft.

Herbs of some type almost every day.

Dehydrated tomato skins all ground up.

Then there was the freezing....

More beans and tomatoes are now residing in the chest freezer downstairs. We are slightly disappointed in the pole bean production. I don't think we will be getting very many this year. Tomatoes on the other hand have gone a bit crazy.

Also freezer making....

There were 7 trays of Eggplant Parma, 6 of which are in the freezer. We had the 7th for supper that night.

We picked fruit... but for some reason I only got a picture of the plums.

I also managed to finish the two fire pit blankets for Kurt and Kris.

It has been a very good week.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

Mid Week.... A New Year

Another lovely day here on the Saskatchewan prairies, a bit cooler but still lovely for this time of year. The extended forecast is calling for this to continue well into the middle of the month. I am looking forward to being able to take a lovely walk on one of these beautiful days. I just need to get my energy back up.

I did finish off the shopping today and of course needed a bit of a nap this afternoon. This time it was only for an hour instead of one and a half hours. Could it be my energy is returning bit by bit? Still I am taking it easy and resting between tasks, I refuse to fall back into being so lethargic that I cannot do anything at all except talk and lay around.

Here are the few pictures I got over Christmas. None during the gift opening.

Kurt getting ready to leave. He was warming up his car so I managed to snap this photo.

Kris looking up something to help with the tech problems I asked him if he could fix.

Eiko decided to try and jump to the top of my bookcase...She made it. This is the first time she has every tried to do this.

Woke up this morning to a winter wonderland.

The fog deposited a coating of hoar frost on all the trees. The glinted and sparkled most of the day.

Hmm, this looks a bit odd, but it is a close up of the frost on one of the branches outside our front window.

Lastly a picture of the quilt I made Kris. It does fit his entire bed.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.
