It has been a very damp, dark day here in Southeastern Saskatchewan. We had rain today for about an hour, didn't freeze, but snow should be arriving some time this evening. I hope that the roads are not too bad tomorrow when I head out to do a little bit of shopping.
The Candle of Peace was lit on the Advent wreath today. Most of my day has been spent contemplating peace. In fact it has been a very peaceful day. At Mass we always give each other the sign of peace and wish peace to each of our fellow parishioners. This time of year it seems to just mean that much more. I wish peace would be as easily achieved as saying the words. Our friends and neighbours are not the only ones deserving of peace, the hungry, the homeless, war torn countries, and all people are so looking forward to peace. When I light my prayer candles tonight I will be praying that all find peace in whatever faith they have and in their fellow men.
I have done my baking now (or at least I hope), done a bit of decluttering, and of course knitting. It is too dark to actually work on any of the other projects I have lined up. This week I hope to start and finish my Christmas ornament give aways, and make that Cabbage bread. I am going to start with the ornaments tomorrow and the Cabbage bread will be made the next day.
Off to visit all of you and get a bit more of supper made.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
We all pray for peace, whether it be globally, between Canada and the US, or privately. So many things to pray for these days.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could solve the answer to peace. Jesus offers us peace that transcends circumstances. John says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." This peace is a gift that calms our hearts and minds, even amidst life's challenges. That is where we start before we can have peace throughout the world—peace from within, like loving your neighbor as yourself.
ReplyDeleteAs we say in my 12-step program, Let it begin with me.
Nice post Jackie!
I always feel so hopeful after I watch it this movie The Bishops wife. It is a really lovely movie, and I'd like Dudley to be my guardian angel. I hope you find it and are able to watch. There is a message for our time, and for all time. It is a lovely Christmas message. Cabbage bread? do tell, I love cabbage. Recipe forthcoming? Praying for peace, for us all, we need it, the world needs it.
ReplyDeleteI pray for peace for everyone.
ReplyDeleteYou have accomplished a lot. I hope your roads are safe for driving.
Have a lovely week.
We had another dump of snow, I believe around 8 inches yesterday and were thankfully spared the freezing rain. I do hope your roads aren't too bad as you venture out today.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
I always think we have nothing to complain about here in the UK weather-wise, when I read about your weather! I guess the difference is you are well used to it, whereas with our temperate climate here, we're always ridiculously surprised and unprepared for bad weather. Which is silly - with climate change we really need to get used to it. World peace seems a long way off doesn't it, more and more so.
ReplyDeleteYour words about peace are very comforting, Jackie. 💕 I’m so glad you had such a peaceful day.
ReplyDeleteLove this post, Jackie. We need peace worldwide...and one day it will come!
