Thrifty and Frugal
This week has been very strange. I headed out a couple of days early to get groceries and our prescriptions. Mainly because we were going to be getting lots of snow. So many times this prediction has not come true, but yesterday the snow arrived. While we did not get quite as much as they said we would about 7" lay on the ground this morning, along with some nice drifts as the wind had whipped things around quite a bit.
So I have just a few thrifty and frugal things to share with you.
1. Harvey finished painting my donkey and cart, using paints he already had.
2. We shoveled and blew snow today for our frugal exercise.
3. I sewed some buttons on one of Harvey's shirts. The buttons came from my button jars.
4. I decided to try and bake all the bread we will need for when Kurt and Kris are home. As of today I have 4 loaves in the freezer. I plan on baking two more loaves tomorrow and two the day after. This cost me probably 1/2 of what the expense would have been if I purchased the bread.
5. Our Co-op grocery always lets us know how much we have saved at the end of our receipt. This time I saved $41.48 on my groceries.
6. I added $70.00 to my savings envelope and another $4.60 to the change jars.
7. Used appliances to cook much more this past week and will continue to do so.
Everybody have a wonderful evening.
God bless.
Good thing you got out early and did your errands before the snow hit.
ReplyDeleteI bet your home smelled heavenly with baking that bread. Great savings on all fronts. Have a wonderful weekend and visit!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo you! The homemade bread sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteUgh, that's a lot of snow to move around. We had about 4 inches - my daughter insisted it was closer to six but that was where it had blown in.
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law and niece drove to Calgary yesterday - there were a few bad patches but otherwise the highways were in decent shape. In the city, the roads are horrid but at least the highways north are good, so I suspect the rest will be too. I'm sure you'll be very happy once the boys are home.
Your efforts to save money while maintaining a cozy, well-stocked home are truly inspiring. I love how you’ve made the most of what you already had—like using paints Harvey already had to finish the donkey and cart, and sewing on buttons from your button jars. It's amazing how small, thoughtful acts can have such a big impact.
ReplyDeleteYour bread-baking project is another great example of saving money while creating something special. I’m sure the fresh, homemade loaves will be a hit when Kurt and Kris are home!
It's also wonderful that your Co-op grocery rewards program helped you save so much, and adding to your savings and change jars is a fantastic way to stay on top of your finances. It sounds like you’re making good use of appliances to save on energy too—an all-around win!
Thanks for sharing these frugal and thrifty tips. Wishing you a lovely, peaceful evening and continued success in all your efforts! God bless.
I love your frugal exercise!
