Thrifty and Frugal Thursdays

Thrifty and Frugal

Hello from the cold Canadian prairies. It isn't that the temperature is so bad, more the breeze/wind, is causing it to feel so much colder.

First off Harvey's mouth is feeling better today. So we are going to try his favourite soup and some scrambled egg sandwiches for supper. At least this way I get to use up one of the planned meals for the week.

So what thrifty and frugal things have been happening on the old homestead this week.

1.  Using more appliances to cook meals.

2.  Saved the leftover filling mixture from the cabbage bread and made what can possibly be three or more meals of Lazy Cabbage Roll Casserole.

3.  Broke up some small pieces of leftover bread and will be making bread crumbs from them once completely dry.

4.  Used up two balls/skeins of yarn from my stash. The next two knitted blankets will only cost me a bit as the yarn I am using was either picked up at the second hand store, gifted to me or purchased very inexpensively.

5.  Gathering ideas to make next year a bit more thrifty and frugal.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. It's turning cold here too, but not as bad as you if the weather reports can be believed. It was windy today too so that made it feel a lot colder. I'm using up stashed yarn in hats for donation so hopefully it (the stash) will dwindle somewhat. Doesn't look like it so far!

  2. That’s good Harvey’s mouth is better. I’m craving a bread pudding and you reminded me with the mention of the leftover bread.
Wind does have a way of cutting cold air through to the bones - we’re cold for us at 44. We’re getting some good rain and snow in the mountains.

  3. Glad your hubby is feeling better. I have been eyeing my stash of yarn. Hoping to use it up in the new year.

  4. Glad to hear Harvey's mouth is healing and he is feeling less pain.
It is supposed to warm up today, but with the breeze this morning, it still felt very cold. The weekend looks even better, and D is talking about taking Eli sledding.

  5. I'm glad to hear Harvey's mouth is feeling better. Scrambled egg sandwiches are delicious. I like mine on toast with butter. Yum. I'm already working on ideas for next Christmas too.
