Midweek Once Again

I have spent some time getting ready for our kind of get away tomorrow. Still loads to do, but I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I find getting ready to go anywhere a stressful thing. One must make lists, pack and hope nothing is forgotten. It seems as if I always forget something sooner or later. I am still adding to my lists for this weekend. My goodness, one needs to bring a great deal with them for something like this.

Thought I would share a few more frugal tips with all of you.

1.  Before a contractor begins work, require a detailed written contract.

2.  When your contractor requires a deposit please make sure it is reasonable.

3.  Establish a payment schedule according to work done and not on fixed dates.

4.  Shingles in poor condition will put off buyers. We now have a metal roof which has a lifetime guarantee.

5.  Repainting those areas that need so pay off big time compared to the effort and cost if you want to resell.

6.  Never rely on short-term returns.

7.  Check unit prices in stores. Sometimes sale items are actually more expensive.

8.  Earn gift cards for your treats.

9.  Drink more water and less soda.

10. Use food scraps to re-grow your own food.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  3. I agree that getting ready to go anywhere is quite overwhelming with so many things to finish off, organise and pack. I hope you get everything done that you need to and have a lovely time.

  4. I’m with you on all the prep before a trip. I don’t get rattled by much however, all the planning and prep before a trip stresses me out. I used to be so organized and there was a time I enjoyed it but now I find it robs me of the thrill of traveling. Why do we think we need to pack so much? Are we insecure? Do we need everything we pack? My husband and I go round and round on this. He packs everything whereas I try to pack as light as I can.

Anyway, I’m sure once you’re packed up and ready to go, you’ll have a good time just getting away.

  5. Why not drink soda? I drink soda from childhood, and in my opinion, it neutralizes the toxins in the body.

  7. Why do we feel when we're going away that we have to leave a spotless house behind? We just add more stress but can't seem to help ourselves.
A wee tidbit I saw this week - use those air-filled plastic packing 'bubbles' as filler in the bottom of big outdoor planters. They fill the space, leaving drainage, and keep the weight of the pots down so they are more readily moveable.
