Two Down and Nine More To Go

The last couple of days have been very good for getting work done on my sewing projects for gift giving.

Sleep pants for Harvey are now finished.

The fabric and batting are cut out and ready to be assembled into the bowl cozies. I hope to start them tomorrow after my errands are run. I want at least to get the batting attached to the fabric squares. I have enough cut for 8 cozies.

Friday, could be a down day. I plan on helping clean the church for a couple of hours in the morning (I think donating 2 hours of my time is more than enough at this time of year). If I have time the next step in bowl cozy making will take place (the four darts in each piece). Then hopefully on Saturday the final assembly can take place.

That will leave only the quilt to start and finish by the end of next week. After all I need to get the Christmas cards done and sent by the end of November.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. Jackie,

When you make your soup bowl cozies, could you show pictures along the way of how you are making them, and even explain the process? They sound like a wonderful gift idea for a single man -- I give to my single brother for Christmas (and his birthday is in Feb), and I've been seeking ideas. These soup great in that they'd use up some of my fabric stash, so I could be frugal more than spending $$ on something else.

    Thanks,
    Gayle

  2. Sure Gayle. The first step is cutting out 10" square blocks of coordinating fabrics. Then cut out 9" squares of batting. If you are going to use these in the microwave, you need to use fabric and batting that are 100% cotton along with cotton thread.

Since I am not too sure about the content of my fabric (the batting is 100% cotton) these can only be used outside of the microwave. Quite alright as DS usually carries his soup or chili or stew downstairs to eat in front of his fireplace and these will keep him from burning his fingers and whatever is in the bowl warm longer.

    God bless.
