Friday Frugalities

I have had a nice frugal week. The sun has shone every day and the temperatures have been wonderful, almost summer-like which is strange at this time of year.

Harvey has been busy working in the yard. He has been using items he already has on hand so no expenditures. I hope to show you a picture of his finished renovation of our fire pit/BBQ area tomorrow. He extended it a little bit and while the fire pit won't be moved as of tomorrow (we have some items to burn first) things will be coming together.

I have only been shopping (spending money) once this week. I did make a trip today to price out washers and checked out a couple of ladies clothing stores. I did not however part with any cash. I love keeping our hard earned retirement funds in our pockets.

Laundry was dried on my clothes lines for the most part. I did have to dry a load in our drier, but that one load was much better than 4 or 5 loads.

The rest of the week has been spent using up every leftover in the fridge. We have actually had two meals of leftovers this week. Got to love cooking once and eating twice. Changes the menu a bit, however saving time and money is important.

I have also decided to start saving toilet paper rolls next winter. So many bloggers have talked about using them for starting their seeds in the spring, and how wonderful they are that I am going to give it a try. Heck since they are smaller than the pots I use, I could probably plant even more starters.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  1. I've just started saving my toilet roll inners this week. I usually start earlier in the year, but I should have plenty when it comes to sewing my runner beans. They do make separating out the plants a lot easier and it does cut down on the recycling that gets taken away by the council.

  2. Good idea to start saving them! One of the manufacturers, I can't remember which right now, is doing away with the toilet paper rolls entirely. Pretty soon our source of free materials for crafting, etc. will be a thing of the past. Sigh...great for the environment, but I use them to wrap ribbons on. Guess I will find something else, lol.
