Thrifty Tuesday

It is the end of what has been a week of ups and downs, worry and heartache. There are things are eldest son is going through that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy (but as a Mama Bear I do wish that bad things would happen to those who are putting him through this once again). Some day I may tell you all what the situation is.

As far as thrifty happenings here on the old homestead, there have been a few.

The Butternut squash pie turned out pretty good. It does actually taste like pumpkin pie. This gives me the courage to try some loaves and muffins with it.

I did some mending on a few seams, and even put a new zipper in a pair of pants. Well not really a new zipper but one I salvaged from an old pair of pants years ago. I knew that it would come in handy some day.

I couldn't repair the old knit blanket it was just too far gone. I ended up salvaging the yarn and it will be used in new projects. Perhaps even the mug rugs that are on my project list.

I cut out two pairs of oven mitts today from fabric left from other projects. I hope to start sewing them tomorrow.

Talked to the youngest Kris today. He lives in one of the cities that now have a mask for indoor spaces. I think I just might make a few more for him. The health region is now saying 3 layer masks are better. I could make more filters for him to use and that would give the masks he has three layers. I wonder if I could find some that could be washed.....

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  2. Sorry to hear your eldest son is having a difficult time Jackie. As a parent, it's horrible to see your child suffering. I hope things get better for him soon.

  4. Sorry to hear about your eldest. My daughter taught for 7 years and while I don't know if this is the cause of his problems, I do know it isn't the easiest profession.

Yes, we're going to mandatory masks in public places but I suspect there will be little to no enforcement. I'll follow the rules but sadly there are a lot of people who assume those rules don't apply to them.

Well, on a more positive note, enjoy this lovely weather while it lasts. Take care and stay well!

  5. caught up on some of your posts. I enjoy seeing what you plan to have each week. I'm having some fresh peas I shelled yesterday and Kraut with wieners. We have been carb free for the most part, makes menu planning a little hard.
I hope Kurt's life gets easier, don't know why people have to be cruel.

  7. Boy it is hard when you kids are in pain and you can do nothing about it. I think emotional pain is worse than physical. Good for you recycling yarn and zippers, I also do that.
