Why Can't I Sleep!!

For the past few days my eyes have popped open just after 5 am. Not a great time to be up and about in this house during these winter months. It is too dark to go for my morning walk at 7 and since Harvey is still sleeping I don't want to start any really noisy household chore. So I usually get all the quiet things accomplished, and drink way too much coffee.

Then by the time afternoon rolls around all I want to do is sit and knit. Not that I am complaining as the baby blanket is moving right along. I may even be able to start those mitts for the twins shortly.

Evening comes, and I think yes I can crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head. I fall asleep very quickly, but come 5 am my eyes pop open once again. I am hoping that I can at least sleep until my regular 6 am tomorrow.

Off to bed.

Everybody have a wonderful evening.

God bless.

  2. I experienced sleeplessness often during the perimenopausal years. I was still working outside of the home then so would often lie in bed thinking that at least I was resting. So now when I get 5-7 hrs of uninterrupted sleep I think I'm ahead of the game. I've been experiencing the 5:00am wake-up call often since the time change in November. I don't have to worry about disturbing any one in the household so I get the coffee on, read, listen to the radio for an hour or so before getting the day started out of bed. I notice that you didn't say you were ready for a nap just ready for a quiet time. The luxury of retirement allows us to schedule our activities as they suit us.
